Tremolo Spring Noise - What's Your Fix?

I played a Charvel Satch recently. Great guitar, but noticed the 'spring ring'/noise comes through with higher gain and E, A, D (second fret chords) palm mutes. Not a huge issue, live, but noticeable.

I read a lot about the Floyd and F-U tone springs not really being 'noiseless' and having ground wire issues.

Read up on some called SSB (in the UK) or similar that come with a black coating like this:

And other 'home' remedies like putting a block of foam under all springs, or looping foam through each spring, or looping plastic tubing in each spring, etc.

What have you guys tried that works and doesn't alter the feel of the tremolo/Floyd?

Thanks.

The top elastic part of a tube sock either wrapped around the springs or stuffed between the springs and body.

I believe Steve Vai's tech had a short video or picture and description of his solutions for Steve. In short, I believe he put pipe cleaners in the springs and then stuffed the cavity with Kleenex. I imagine the Kleenex would be sufficient.

I cut some of that strong white packaging foam you get with electronics into strips that fit in between. Works like a charm.

I'll look for this video, thanks!

Possibly get a picture of this?

I block the trems that I have but a paper towel, Kleenex, sock, foam, etc... All work.

My trem will be dive only, too. ...So are you putting the above items just around the springs and/or in between the springs and the cavity walls?

Or, in the actual springs?

I use both the black and the red official Floyd Rose springs and I file(Dremel is quicker) the pin end and the ring end that attach to the trem block and the claw, so that I get a good metal on metal connection to both ends this is solves to grounding issues

sure man, will snap a pic and post it when I get home from work.

Small block of foam rubber under the springs, like what comes with Duncan pickups in the box, cut it to fit. Simple.

I use the coated Floyd rose springs. They have a small rubber insert on them as well. They are quiet and no issues.

I use small pvc / plastic tubing that I think is for a soda machine or a fish tank - cut into pieces long enough to go through the entire spring. Spring noise from striking the strings is gone. Tubing was like under $3 for 20 feet.

Cool. Are the ones from F-U tone and direct from Floyd Rose the same?

Yup, I saw a video on this and seemed to work really well.

here you go. This is sleeping bag mat material, but the cover was already off of this one so easier to shoot a pic. The principal is the same though.

Bit late now, but I've heard that soft rubber tubing around the springs works a charm.

Doesn't impede the movement in any way.

Piece of 1/4 inch thick soft foam. Been doing it for ever. That and a small hair band behind the locking nut, some ringing occurs there too. Learned that one from Dimebag, in 1990.
