Saw some old videos on you tube where Bruce had what looked like a 2203 or 2204 and two late 70s marshall cabs (loaded with greenbacks or g1265s I assume) Anyone know what kind of pickups he had in his guitars? What kind of overdrive/distortion he used or whether he used one at all?

Looks like Rick Wartell is using a jcm800 of some sort and his bridge pickup in his explorer looks like it has been replaced..

Anyways, any info would be interesting to hear.

All I know is JCM 800 with Greenbacks (at least on the first 3 albums).

And Trouble.............

I saw a more recent pic of Rick using a 5150 in Germany though.

When I saw them live in Chicago before the 1st album was even released it was JMP's and yellow Boss Overdrive pedals. I don't remember now if it was OD-1's or SD-1's.

I love Trouble!

Well, I sent a message to bruce franklin on Myspace and he replied last night. This is basically what he told me.

He used the same gear for the first four albums. He said his amp was a 100W jmp which from the videos I have seen looks like a 2203. He had greenbacks in the cabs. His guitar is an ibanez V with a dimarzio superdistortion and he used a Boss ge-7 and a polychorus in front.

Pretty cool, I need an eq pedal and that just swung me over to the boss side. Im going to have to pickup an old dimarzio SD and Ge-7 next paycheck. I already got the 2203 and greenbacks.

Growing up,here in Chicago,i caught Trouble many, many times from the first(and best)LP,onwards.i clearly remember both guitarists playing through mid to late 70's JMP heads.i figured that they were probably the 2203 100-watt head.i had the same head during the 80's & 90's,so i naturally payed attention to Trouble's gear...the TONE coming out of those heads with the de-tuned doom metal that they play was INTENSE...total crunch monsters, gobs of crushing gain!!! i've loved Trouble, since the beginning, and still catch them play live, about twice a year,at small local clubs...always a great time!!! i definately regret selling my '78 JMP 2203 head,a few years back, but now, with some tax refunds coming back,i'll be searching for a clean, late 70's JMP 50-watt 2204 head...i'll re-live the old days WITHOUT blowing the windows out of the house!!!
