 This is a brand new vh4s. I just need simple channel switching. Bought a Rolls model RFX MP128 pedal. Very basic. :D

I followed instructions to get vh4s into omni mode... hold mute then push channel insert then release mute.... insert, mute, and send 2 are supposed to blink but DONT!! So no omni mode on this new vh4s. :gethim: I tried assigning channels instead of omni per the instruction manual but the pedal still did not switch channels, so communication is not happening.

 PLEASE:
1. Help me get VH4S into Omni Mode
2. Help me get vh4s to communicate with this simple rolls model rfx mp128 midi buddy pedal to switch my channels.

You have some serious problems ;)
I am sorry, I can t help you. I run my VH4 with a roland midi pedal (or was it Boss?). It worked from the day I plugged in. I didn t need to dial in or something like that. Maybe some experts here have the answer.
Cheers Otto

Did you try the one where it automatically senses what message the pedal is sending?

Also, not all MIDI switches send Program Changes by default, you might need to set something on the pedal first.

Thats what I told him in a PM as well. Read the Rolls manual, set VH4S to automatic detect or programm both units to channel 1 f.i.

. . . or visit Peter in Anaheim, he's there :D

Good luck !

I have tried omni, single channel, and automatic, but no luck.
I read that using a 5 pin cable was fine for simple channel changes like I need... 7 pin required for more complex program changes like GCX, etc...maybe the 5 pin cable is the problem?

At least I get to enjoy the best tone in the world while we figure this out!
Thank you Brothers...

Can't you lend/borrow (?) a different midi pedal over the weekend?

5 PIN is perfect with all units I know.

If it is the amp: Peter is at Namm now, he will be back next week / wednesday or so.

don't have another midi pedal...could be this Rolls is a POS... dunno. The Deizel isn't acting right as far as what the manual says the lights should do so I guess we will wait for Peter? At leat I'm in tone heaven while I wait.

Just want to Clear The Air on this thread.... I was able to borrow a friends Ground Control Pro, plugged it into my VH4S and it started switching channels for me immediately. I used Omni mode on my VH4S. I set it up as a simple 1,2,3,4 on each the VH4S and the GCP. It has an issue where I step channel 1 of the GCP and the VH4S switches to channel 1 (good) and if I step on that same channel of the GCP again the VH4S switches to a different channel  . As I take the GCP up and down from channel 1,2,3,4 the VH4S jumps around, it doesn't switch (1 for 1), (2 for 2), (3 for 3), (4 for 4) :gethim: so I need to understand and correct that  , but my channels are now switching on my VH4S  . Naturally, my VH4S tones remain incredible :D .

The Rolls MPX128 Midi Buddy is a compact, simple, midi channel switcher (perfect) but it didn't switch the channels on my VH4S so unless I learn somrthing to correct it I would not recommend it for Deizel VH4S owners  .
