I've had my M4 and modules (DLX, VX, SL2, EG3/4, MHG) for about a year now and I think maybe it's time to replace the tubes.

M4 goes to a Peavey Classic 50/50 pwr amp, just replaced all tubes in it couple months ago.

I gig every weekend and it gets played on a pretty regular basis through the week.
The VX module in particular seems a bit 'lifeless' - not the great tone I perceive it had when I first got it.

So, I'm soliciting opinions on what to put in each module. I understand they currently ship with Sovtek's now and they are pretty reliable. I've seen others with different views RE tone for different tubes.
Appreciate the input.

Thanks

Funny thing:

I think Bruce walks on water, but I don't think anything sounds worse than those Sovtek 12AX7WA's. I think those tubes are lifeless. I really hate them.

The VX will come alive with maybe some Shuguangs or some JJ's (even though they're both less dependable than the sovteks, which might be why Bruce uses them)

Can't go wrong with a TungSol reissue in a fender-ish module.

The Chinese Shuguangs sound great, but have more of an elastic feel to them, in a really good way. I love them.

I like Tung Sols or JJs in everything! Power amp tubes maybe once a year but you shouldn't have to replace preamp tubes for a long time, years.

I have a friend with the same tubes for 12 years and lots of gigging. The amp still kills.

What did you retube your Peavey Poweramp with? Preamp tubes usually last 3-4 years.
