MURDERATOR
Anybody ever work on one? Having a helluva time with it…. Think it’s vapor locked…drained the oil out of both sides and it won’t take any oil back into the hydrostatic side. Had to take half the tractor apart to get to it. Does this count for being on topic in this section? lol….

Have no clue about tractor stuff, but step 16 here says to spin a shaft to let the oil flow from the reservoir into the hydro chamber.

GL, doesn't look like a fun job just to change the fluid.

It's a pain in the dick. figured it out right before dark. The overflow tank has a built in one way purge valve. So it was not letting oil in so no movement. I pulled it off and filed it directly. Fired it up and purged it....boom-we have movement. I'm done for the night. This has been a fuckin nightmare. I have nothing but respect for wrench turners. I straight mongoloid everything....it's in my nature....

Everything put back together and it will not pull a hill. Forward or reverse. That’s fine if I lived in Kansas or Indiana. I know it’s something simple. On level ground it runs fine…start up a slight incline and it makes a noise and stops. ? I posted this as a joke but if anyone has any suggestions I’m all ears…

Sometimes when a car won't move or accelerate strongly it's because the transmission fluid is low or the wrong type/viscosity. I recall from reading that link that it should be refilled with the exact amount that came out. My daughter's car with a cvt wouldn't move at all with only a couple ounces low.

Yup fluid is good. The belt is slipping on the drive pulley. Any tension, like going uphill causes it to slip. I have a shorter belt I’m going to try if I can get it mounted. I looked really cute yesterday sticking my head under a moving mower….. no wonder equipment accidents are so brutal…lol

Be careful out there brother.

Sometimes if the system runs without getting circulated the oil will cavitate and foam up and the foam can induce slipping, but it won’t cause the belt to slip, it feels like it’s slipping but the system can’t pump foam.
If you actually saw the belt slipping on the pulley maybe that was the issue the whole time? Is there an idler tensioner pulley on it?
I’m not familiar with that particular system but I have 2 Kubota ZTR’s that at least in theory work the same way as far as changing the hydro oil and getting it bled off.
Make sure you recheck the hydro oil level once you get it rolling and run it for 10-15 minutes, it may not be fully bled off yet.

installed a shorter belt just now. that was a mother fucker. did not help at all.

Is that something where it ends up being cheaper to just buy a new tractor?

Yup. ? It’s older so not worth sinking money into it unless you can find one to swap out. You rebuild it and you are gambling. $450 for a rebuild kit. Fuck that. I can wheel and deal and get another machine for that.
