About to get one of these as I need a really nice tuner. From my research the Peterson and Sonic Research are some of the best tuners you can get in a pedal format.

I've already decided to go with a turbo tuner but I'm debating ST-200 vs ST-300.

I can get the ST-200 for about $85-$95 used and the ST-300 is $135.

Here are the differences below. Worth the extra $50? I don't typically play outdoor gigs, it's happened a couple of times but the extra bright display probably won't benefit me. I do like the new silent relay switch and the USB is also appealing since I tune lower than most and I can customize the pedal. Those are the main benefits the ST-300 has. SR claims they're faster as well but meh, the 200 is fast enough I'm sure.

Our ST-300 line of tuners have the following improvements over the ST-200:

1. While the ST-200 is know for its ultra-fast automatic note selection, the ST-300 is even faster.

2. Brighter display. We use new ultra bright LEDs in the display, and it is clearly visible in direct sunlight.

3. Relay switching instead of the 3PDT switch.

4. USB port for easier programming of custom tunings.

Thoughts and opinions? Suggestions? I'm leaning towards the ST-300 since they're new vs used plus the latest and greatest. However $50 is $50. With the savings I can get started on a delay/Reverb or something else I need.

i have both.

get the 300 if u use custom tunings, otherwise not worth the other upgrades. fantastic tuner to begin with. had a couple 200 series. set and forget.

Thanks for the reply, I wouldn't go as far as to say "custom" tunings.

I tune to Drop C with the band and sometimes Drop Bb for fun at home. I read the pedal recognizes Drop D but I'm a step lower. I've had problems in the past with other tuners recognizing that low note so that's why I was concerned.

Anyway I guess I'll go for the 200. I'm sure it will be fine. Thanks again.

The 300 reads way lower than that. I have a 7 string setup for whole step down. Tracks perfectly. Bass player uses it too. I play in the day sometimes in the sunlight and the 300 is definitely better in that regard.

Ive used St-200 for years with low tunings, a little slow but works fine. 300 is an improvement for sure.

I ended up going for a used ST-200, it's not here yet but my main concern was picking up the lower tunings.

As far as speed, I'm sure even the 200 is faster than I am lol we will see. If it's super slow or if I don't like it for some reason I will just resell but I'm sure it will be fine.

I have both and the 300 mini is the best for me , they both work awesome but the 300 hits the note a bit faster but if you havent had the 200 to compare you'll be happy as hell with the 200 ,best tuners for sure...either is great

I haven't tried to the 300 but the 200 has never let me down. Compared to most pedal tuners it's excellent.
