Tweaker 40 tubes?

I just got a tweaker 40 head and for the most part really like it. How long do the tubes need to break in? I find the basic sound a bit stiff compared to my older tube amps (80's boogie, fender blues deluxe). I really dig the variable tones of this amp (and the size of course) but I'm looking to make it feel a bit warmer and squishier (is that a word?). Any suggestions on a softer tube for V1?

I've been playing for 48 years, all tube amps (twins, boogies, etc). Love Robben Ford, Larry Carlton, etc

Thanks in advance for any thought or suggestions.

do you know how to adjust the bias on the amp? It could be biased cold? I don't have a tweaker 40, does the manual talk about how to bias the amp?

I don't think the manual talks about biasing but I don't think I'm up for that anyway. I think I'd rather experiment with other preamp tubes and maybe speakers. But thanks for the suggestion. I'm pretty open minded and I see the possibilities of the Tweaker, just have to fine tune I think. I used it on a gig last night and found that it speaks very articulately but I would like to warm it up a bit more. Seems a bit stiff although that may be because of "tube break n". Could also be the speaker I'm using (20 year old EVM 12L). Tried it with a Tubeworks 12 but really didn't like that.
I haven't bought a new tube in many years. Everything else I use is at least 20 years old so that may be the difference I guess.

I let you all know what I find.

Thanks
