Just got my TJ a couple weeks ago and did the El34 mod. I purchased a used one build in December of 2009. I know bogner did a change to the gain pot on channel one to help keep it stay cleaner. When I had the amp opened I noticed it is using a dual stacked 500k pot. My question is on my amp is stays clean all the way up to about 11-12 oclock then starts to break up at 1 and after that the the gain comes on fast. Also maybe it just me but I wish channel one had a little more gain on tap. I find myself running the gain at max. Wanted to know if you guys experience the same thing.

Exactly. Mine is this way. I max it also. It's meant to be somewhat clean if you desire lower on. I keep saying this and I know they are pricey, but the Gold lion KT77 rule in this amp.

I will probably pickup a quad in the future. Right now I am recovering from my Blue Face VH4 purchase.
What current rating are your KT77's and thanks for the input!

Oh Yeah. Nice. Congrats on that. Definitely a nice looking amp there. I get them from TCtubes. Tyler knows how to match them very well for higher PV. You'll need a hotter quad. He can help you. Factory matching is pretty much useless when your amp puts 500+ on the plates.
