Man I had a front loaded Twin Jet straight cab in my studio last night and that thing sounded great, standing in front of it and recorded. It was criss crossed with V30s and G75s. Who knows about these cabs and uses them? I'm thinking of getting one.

What amp were you running through it James?

Rob can tell you all about them at TM's. He's all over that new Ubercab.

Yeah I got it from Rob. I played it through a Naked, my '71 w/Friedman KS and a Ceriatone Plexi. It really sounded good and a nice compliment to my Scumback 1969 Marshall cab. Super punchy.

Just got and recorded with it. Fukkin killer sounding, so fat yet cuts. Great cab.

I do like FL cabs for some amps. Yes, they do cut right through everything. I have a FL Diezel, made in Germany, sitting here that is doing nothing at the moment. I may try out some speaker combinations in it. The 100's do nothing for me.

Did you find any differences in mic'ing the cab for recording James, as opposed to rear loaded cabs?

I don't have a point of reference, meaning I don't have 2 Uber cabs side by side, one fl one rl. But I just love the tone. vibe and look of these cabs. I am so mental, I ordered another one. I do so much multi-amping that I need more cabs. It's a nice compliment to the Scumback 1969 straight.

Had the FL UberKab being driven by a UberTJ.

Thing was nuclear.

Tried a couple different heads with it, sometimes just didn't sound as good. The TJ and the UberKab were an aggro-metal match made in sonic heaven.

Peace,
Mo

ah James.....your the one who got the Ubercab from Rob. I was thinking about getting it last week.

My Twin Jet will be here in a couple days from TM's. Gonna go heat the soldering iron up and do some cab surgery. Got some V30's and T75's sitting around too. Did a bunch of speaker/cab swaps for the XTC and to me it seemed to work best with rear loaded V30's. The Twin Jet may actually sound good in FL cab with a V30/K100 mix

Like wiping your ass on a wagon wheel.....it never ends! :D

Could one just use a Bogner RL cab and mount the speakers from the front? Would that work or are the speaker holes a different diameter?

The cutouts need to be bigger to compensate for the speaker frame / baffle thickness and a way to mount the speakers from the front. You would need to redo the grill so that it came be removed and reinstalled from the front. And, seal the back good to make it really work.

Steve

Front loaded Uberkab don't have a sealed back from what some previous owners have said in the past.

Apparently it has a removeable front grill and the speakers are bolted in the front, but has a normal removeable back like a rear loaded cab.

Maybe the newer ones have sealed backs, James take a look for us.

I dusted off my Diezel FL cab and snatched those Chinese K100's out and reloaded it with 2-V30's and 2-t75's and damn, the cab sounds bad ass with the Cameron. I see a Bogner Ubercab FL in the near future!

Steve

I played mine last night and experimented with different mics, pres and placement combination. The cab is sick. I love the tone; it's very lush and heavy. I pick up the second one today from Jim.
