Two Notes Torpedo vs Palmer PDI03??

Need some advice in comparing the Two Notes Torpedo and Palmer PDI-03. My aim is to understand if the Two Notes is worth the extra investment (for my needs).

Firstly let me explain my needs;

1. I primarily want to use a speaker simulator for live application, studio use is secondary. i.e. guitar > amp head > speaker simulator > PA

2. The feature set of the Palmer is more than enough for me. From what I know, it can do greenback 4x12, v30 4x12 and 2x10 open back sounds. That’s all I need it for.

Knowing all this, the deciding factor in my decision will be the realism/quality of speaker simulation of the greenback 4x12, v30 4x12 and open back cab in each unit.

So, which would be the correct answer for me?

1) As far as speaker simulation (only), The Two Notes is worth paying the extra cost as it does a better job at simulating a Greenback 4x12, V30 4x12 and open back 2x10.

OR

2) As far as speaker simulation (only), the Palmer and the Two Notes are roughly on par. Go for the Palmer as you’ll just be spending the extra on functionality which you won’t use in the Two Notes.

Don’t want to spend more for the extras that the Two Notes offers if I don’t have to as they are by far, secondary requirements for me.

Thanks!

There is no comparison as the Palmer doesn't accurately do any of those cabs listed, rather it just does some basic EQ curves named after the various cabs is all.

Any Two Notes product by design can accurately replicate any cab(s), speaker(s), and mic(s) combination, plus add room ambiance/reverb, tube power amp sims, and EQ, all under MIDI control.

Any Two Notes product can also perfectly replicate all Palmer hardware too, so with a Torpedo you can have the Palmer and a lot more (any analog cab sim, some acoustic bodies like acoustic guitar, mandolin, etc, etc).

You're probably looking at the Torpedo Studio or LIVE as your amp will need a load (assuming it's a tube amp).

The Two-Notes live is absolutely killer! Love my unit and what it does. So much variety with sounds! I always thought I would only always like just one type of cabinet but with this unit, I can fit different types of sounds for the song to make things sound amazing! There are days when I like the V30 sound, others the T75 and others, the greenback setup and the same goes for the mics that you can use. The fact that I have it all in one box coupled with a reliable and safe load setup is fantastic! I've been using these units since they were introduced in the market.

The fact that I can run it FOH and bring my cab or leave it at home depending upon the monitoring system as well as practicing late at night quietly without disturbing my family is outstanding!

I've sold a couple of them for other pursuits but recently got a new one and I'm keeping this one! It is more expensive but you are getting quite a bit more.

The software connection piece with the ability to audition new cabs through LeBoutique is also so useful.

:)

The torpedo live is one of the best purchases i have ever made. And ever since the arcade release i am getting insane tones very easily. Im using it with my Friedman small box. I am using the friedman v30 cab with a sm57 and i just take a little distance off it and maybe a bit of brightness and i have a killer consistant tone. Plus i dont have to worry about bothering my wife i can just play through headphones and i don't have to depend on software to load ir's. I wish i would have spent the extra and got the studio!

a) The main point is that the Palmer can only sound like a Palmer and nothing else, while the Torpedoes can sound virtually identical to any cab(s)/speaker(s)/mic(s) combination, as well as the Palmer and any hardware analog filter cab sim, plus specialty things like acoustic instrument bodies, all while including great tube power amp sims, EQ, Room Sim/Reverb, and finally with all of that is under MIDI control (plus quality Reactive Loads etc).

In addition you get the WOS III Plugin, a software Editor/Librarian, and Impulse Mixing/Creation software.

b) With the Palmer, you get the Palmer and it's couple of generic cab sim sounds, that's it.
