Today was a very interesting day, finally trying the 4CM with my amp and the axe.
I came to a friend of mine who owns one, took us time to set the levels and figure out
stuff but once we did - results were better than I could ever hope for.
First, we didnt have any ground loop issues, no hiss issues(aside of my amp's regular hiss
which we tamed witrh a noise gate easily).
Second, we tried to run some clean amps through the bogner's power amp section since
I dont have cleans on TJ and wanted to get the axe for cleans too - the cleans sounded great, shiva, blackface, some mark series cleans were all sounding great, I actually couldnt how good it sounded without any tweaking.
Third - we AB'd over and over the guitar straight to bogner vs the guitar into axe into bogner with the amp's loop and everything in the axe bypassed - we worked on that one alot but it came to a level where I really couldnt tell the difference, we did boost some low frequency in the axe a tiny bit cause it killed some low end but once we did that I really couldnt tell the difference, it was amazing.
One thing we didnt fully worked out was the difference between the sound with the amp's loop bypassed or on, it was nothing that critical at all, but there was a difference that we could'nt really eliminate completely,
I imagine we could work on it alot more but we got short on time, anyway it did sound great with the loop on and I know I'll use the loop for FX and stuff anyway so I dont care that the sound would be slightly altered.
One thing we couldnt really get right too is to make amp models sound good through the bogner, I guess it's only due to our lack of knowledge and experience with the axe, it also wasnt even version 11.0 so I know it would capable for alot more.
I couldnt be more impressed from the axe's flexibility and transparacy, I came with expectations for alot of hum and noise issues, I expected it to color my amp's tone noticably - it worked amazingly well, had non of these issues, I'm sold, I'm getting one and a live in rack as soon as I can.
