I'm selling some gear and am looking for my next new amp. I play mainly in stadard tuning and in the style of Lynch/ Demartini/ Van Halen etc. How does the Uberschall pull off these tones. I know it can do Nu-metal very well, but that is not my style of music at all. I'm sure the Ecstacy is a better bet, however the Uber seems to be a more straight forward design. Most of the uber clips I have heard sound great, but I would like some insight from owners who have attempted to get some 80's metal tones. Thanks in advance

u will be plenty happy with the Uber even for 80s tight of tone if you know how to properly tweak the mid and presence controls. However, what I usually advise guys is that The Uber was designed for lowered tunings and 7 and 8 string guitars and sounds the best that way. If u want strait ahead 80s stuff than an XTC is really hard to beat.

I had 3 Ubers and did not like them at all for 80's metal. To my ear they are not desinghed for 80's. more for the drop tuning or 7-8 string guitar deal. I agree with Rob, try the xtasy.

I got damn close to a jcm800 with an uber. As stated above, just tweak the presence and mid control.

+1

mod it
it's easy to turn it into a hot-rodded marshall by swapping about 3 capacitors
(first stage cathode, second stage coupling, slight tweak on negative feedback loop)
that would get it into Laboga Mr. Hector ballpark
tighter with growlier midrange and smoother highs
