Hi everybody,

I'm new here and this is my first post.

I'm the owner of a new Uberschall amp head Rev.Blue that I bought to record with in the studio.

I obviously bouth this amp for it's 2nd channel, but since it's got another channel too I tried to use it in so many ways (with without pedals) experimenting with all kind of setting,

but sincerely I never founded a tone to be happy at all with this channel. It sounds pretty lifeless and It's really curious to find in the same amp 2 channels with so different tone quality..

Anyway, I've emailed to the guys at Bogner asking if there was something wrong with my amp and after a sharing of settings they replied me that my amp is ok as it is..

So, does anybody of you had the same feeling about the first channel?

And does anybod find a way to fix this?

Maybe with a schematic of the amp I could have my tech try some tweak...

Try switching out preamp tube V4 for a JJ ECC 83s. Makes it a bit brighter and lifelike. That's what I have in my Rev 2.

Hi,

and thanks for your reply!

I've tried with different tubes but it's still lifeless..

and it don't react great to pedals too..I feel like this channel only uses one triode of the 4th 12ax7..could it be?

Do you know where I can find a schematics for this channel?

Thx

Not sure about the schematics. TBH the Uberschall doesn't really have that great of a clean channel to begin with. You might get it modded.

Absolutely,

that's why I'm looking for a schematics, to let my tech see what he could do...and I'm sure he could do something great to the clean channel..

Put a Tung-Sol RI in V1 and a JJ ECC803s in V4, you will not believe the difference that makes to the clean channel.

I've tried and the clean channel sounds better, but there's always that enormous difference in volume compared with the first channel..

I think I need to find a schematics and let my tech try to mod channel 1..

Thx

Yep, that difference is going to be there no matter what. Why don't you just crank the channel volume to match the second channel's volume control?

Because even if the first channel is full cranked I don't reach the level of the second channel, to be able to do it I've got to lower the master of the second channel, but this way the second channel (for recording) doesn't sound the same as before..

I need the first channel to be able to sound 7/8/10 db's louder.. and I'm sure it's a simple things to do, using the two sections of V4 preamp tube instead of only one (as it is used now) in conjunction with some other minor tweakings too..

If it's just about recording, just turn it up as needed. I don't see where the problem is.

I had a chance to play a few Ubers today, including a Twin at a friend's house. I guess I am just not into the overly aggressive modern amp thing any longer. Even for really high gain metal, I would prefer my Shiva because it just has more of the tone and feel I like. But if you like the Uber low end, the Twin is great for genres going for that sort of thing. Can't beat a Bogner any way you slice it. They do sound mean though.

It's not only a problem of volume, the first channel it's also a little bit lifeless ..

and when the amp it's miked for recording you can feel this better than standing in front of the cab playing..

I've tried bot the rev.Blue and the TJ in the studio and discovered that I like more the Rev Blue, I'm talking abut the 2nd channel.

The TJ miked sounds a little bit boxy compared to the openess of the rev blue tht sounds tighter and punchier.

And also the presence control on the 2nd channel works very different in the two amps..

The TJ on the other hand has the first channel that is cool, to my taste maybe better sounding than the

2nd one!

There are two things to try if you don't like what your Uberschall is doing:

1. Turn the final master volume all the way up and then adjust each channel's volume to taste. This open's up the amps' lower frequencies quite a bit, and gets rid of some "Fizz".

2. Feed the Uber a buffered signal. This opens up the articulation and pick attack of the sound. There is a mod that Cameron used to do to Ubers, and part of that mod was getting rid of the part
attached to the input jack that shielded it from R.F. By feeding it a buffered signal you will now get more attack and clarity, and additionally, you will be able to run the gain lower to get
the same amount of drive. Unless you already run EMG's in your guitar, of course.

3. Before any Uber owners type in something here that contradicts the aforementioned suggestions, TRY IT FIRST before responding.

Hi and thank you for your suggestions,

I've tried the first one and to me is the one that works best to give some life to the clean channel and to balance the two channels too.

I really like running the master volume high. It sounds really thick and less harsh.

The secret to an uber Uberschall.....
