I bought my rebel30 head and matching cab from guitarguitar after researching on the net then haviby a play in store and falling in love.

These two cost me a lot £900.

I was very happy until the clean vol pot started scratching. I put up with it for the Iongest time but it got worse so contacted Egnater.

Turns out the 3year warranty you guys get in the states translates to 1yr in the UK. Apparently this is the UK store policy store policy? Absolutely crap news to me.

Contacted Egnater where I got a reply from a person who seemed not to be from Egnater giving me the kiss off saying either pay to have it insured & shipped to America to be worked on or pay to have it repaired here in the UK.

I just wanted to say how disappointed I am with this. It's been a few weeks since being given two undesirable options and it still smarts..

Such a shame a great product isn't backed up with great aftercare. :(

Is it just a scratchy pot?
Maybe a squirt of switch-cleaner is all that it'll take .

I would have thought that GG would have done that if you were local enough to call in with it.

Where are you based?

Hi mate. I'm in harrogate guitarguitar is in Newcastle so wouldn't drive there just to have them squirt some contact cleaner in there..

I can, and have done that myself with the very product you've shown. If anything it's gotten worse!

I'm going to try and remove the pot myself and replace it but this amp is cramped with little or no working room so it's going to be difficult...

Thanks for the input though. :)

ok lets go thru your issues

1) You live in the UK and you bought an R30 Head & cab from Guitar Centre in the UK for 900 pounds.
Extremely expensive price for this I note (my R30 head cost 300 pounds imported from the US).

2) The items have a 1 year warranty in the UK which you should have been aware of when you bought them.

3) The head developed a scratchy volume pot which you probly could have been fixed in 5 seconds with a quick squirt of some lube.
But you did nothing and continued playing it for a long time until the pot got very scratchy.

4) I assume you waited until after the 12 month warranty expired and then contacted Egnater requesting warranty repair.
They said sorry, its no longer under warranty but they gave you 2 options anyway.

Is this the basic story or did I get it wrong ????

If it's not under warranty what did you expect ??
No company will repair an out of warranty product for free.
I would not even have asked Egnater.
I would have just sprayed the pot with some lube when the scratch first appeared and forgotten about it.
If I couldn't fix it myself I would have taken it to a local amp tech and got if fixed for probly 10 pounds.

You came here to gloat about paying £300 for a rebel head what are you 13 years old?

The head is around £660, and the cab about £250 from guitarguitar, not guitar centre. Do you have adhd? I guess you didn't read or absorb these simple facts before jumping onto that high horse of yours.

All my research was done online prior to travelling to Newcastle to try the amp out. Only available in America apart from one distributor in the UK. Everything I turned up said 3 yr warranty. But yes youre right, I should have double checked before handing over my card.

You don't just "squirt in some lube" you uneducated, reprehensible, fool.

Did mummy never tell you if you have nothing constructive to say then say nothing at all.

P.S. (and this is real talk) You totally murdered a great Pink Floyd track. My ears cannot ingest that terrible out of tune, out of time, horrible noise you proffer without making me feel a little angry at the terrible disservice you had done the track "wish you were here".

For everyone's sake forget tabs and you tube, go take some real lessons if you wish to be able to play.

I would spray the area in the side slot near above the 3 connect tabs.
Use the CRC or deoxit D5 and only proper cleaner, not Fader cleaner thats different stuff !
Never WD40 bull.

Mine had a phase when it was losing volume, sounded a bit muted on both channels, thought it must be a dying valve.
Took it to a local tech who took it to bits , tested it and couldn't find anything wrong with it, worked great from then on.

Got mine from GuitarGuitar too.

Its also a good idea to rotate all the controls spending 1 minute on each pot will clean them of film or dirt, just let the wiper do its thing.
If you let a amp sit too long the capacitors will dry up and fail.
Those things reform themselves as it turns out !
