I wonder if it's hard to undo the x mod on an EG3/4x? Could I do it myself? Can anybody guide me trough it?
Otherwise I'd let a tech do it but I still need the scheme I guess. Thanks!

it's just two caps, but I'd have to be looking at the board to tell you which two, and I probably forget the original values

I'd also like to know. Maybe a PM to RockStarNick is in order, as he did a number of these mods to modules in the past.

Hey guys. Here's how you "De-X" a EG3/4 module.

On the vertical tube board, replace the 100pf to a 1000pf Silver Mica capacitor.

On the main board, remove the 471 tan ceramic cap at C18.

Booyah.

WHOAAAA, wait.....

What about the swap @ C5?

 thanks Gene.

C5 should remove the red square WIMA 680pf, and go back to a stock Xicon 1000pf.

:D

It's been a while.

On some of the EG34s that I did, I didn't do the C5 swap, keeping the bass half of the module stock.

The GNR module I got (from you?) has this.....it's more useful this way..since Bass Boost on 2 for most modules is usually way too much anyway :-)

My memory's hazy, but I think you're correct.

Another "mod" that I did was to swap out the BB2 cap, which made the bass boosts go 0, 1, and 1/2. Gave a nice in-between notch.
