Something I just noticed.

I own more Mesa amps than any other brand.

Marshall comes in second, followed by Fender.

I have always loved Rectos. Some of the others are really great yet underrated, such as the Electradyne.

Randall sure was busy with all the designs.

Do you think all the different models are for selling more amps or desire to create something new?

I feel like a lot of the variations are to make people feel like they “have to have all of them” to have the different tones, but there’s nothing wrong with trying them all haha

Hey I have mostly Peavey stuff so there's that! You like what you like! The only place to venture from what you like is, spending twice the amount of money to buy some boutique name brand amp that will get you 95% the same tone anyways

Same. They sit in a fairly unique spot between feeling boutique enough to sound great and feel special and high quality, mainstream enough to be available everywhere, and they have a wide enough range of amps that there’s a Mesa to cover just about everything.

If you’re the kind of player that has several amps, I could easily see having more Mesas than anything else.

Over the last year ... I went from 11 heads down to 7 ..... 4 of them are Mesa's

I've got a DC-5 , Fillmore 50 , Mark III ( Purple Stripe ) and a Mark V ......... the DC-5 is one of my favorite amps ever .

Some of you alls Mesa collections as sick. Sick sick puppies. Hoarders I tell ya.

But yeah, I feel Randall was trying to make something for everyone. I mean: Mark 1, Mark 2C++, JP2C, Lone Star, Rectos, Electrodyne, Transatlantic and Stilettos, MC5, 50 cal, preamps, power amps, jeez there are just a ton of options.

Which one was the solid state version? Express 5:50? What was the Subway Rocket?

It worked on me; if I had unlimited $$ i would certainly have a mark, recto, TC, and cali tweed - those are all amps I either love or see the use for
The electrodyne is my Mesa combo for jazz and cleans and weird rock tones
The last Soundgarden album is all electrodyne
Well mostly

I was diehard Marshall for the whole time I’ve been playing and technically, it’s still my favorite tone (plexi) but for the last several years I’ve had more Mesa’s by quite a bit. But as said, Mesa makes amps that are quite different where Marshall is kind of the one thing it does across the range, so if you have a good one, you don’t need many others. Which means I’ll probably end up with another Marshall now…😄

Currently T-Verb, Stiletto, TA-30, Lonestar Special.
