I watched this yesterday after you posted so I may have forgotten or heard it wrong, but did he say he became Edward's tech in 2000? If so, long after tone which many seek to emulate?

He also said, IIRC, EVH didn't use any dirt pedals into the amps?

Watched the whole thing, expecting the one guy to look at the other and go, "You're a wizard, Harry."

his description of the royer is interesting to me. imo, it captures more lows AND highs. my analogy is the 57 is the midrange fist and the condenser of choice is the loudness button for low/hi ends.

but i recently revisited a different kind of truth and really enjoyed the tones in a modern evh way. and i LOVE what he said about capturing drum tones. cavemen with giant kits, tightly tuned heads, and baseball bat sticks were the bane of my live sound existence. like micing a jackhammer and trying to make it sound musical.

the masters are assasins that hit with precision.

ADKOT is a great album. I love the sounds of all the instruments on that record.

He had the BOSS SD-1 on his pedal board in the early 90s and possibly thru the VH3 tour . An interview with his tech said it was rarely used
