Hi guys... need a bit of quick help, put some el34b valves in the mod 50 and test point 1 is 35 mv but test point 2 is 10mv
sounds good tho. Can this be right ..thx in advance Macka

Should not be, even if they are badly matched. That's too far apart IMO.

Does it do the same when you reverse them?

Thx for the replies. I pulled em out of a Mark Samson Star amp that sounded great. Not sure if they r supposed to be a matched pair or not. Yes they do the same if u reverse them. Got a gig 2 day and dont know if i should risk it. They sound better than my Svetlanas which bias both at 38mv

Sounds like a bad match, not sure if it is ok to run, since one tube looks like it would be doing more work than the other............

Macka, I would get a matched pair if i were you. Those are way off.

Yea im hearin ya's...the old Murphys law at gigs..if something can go wrong it WILL. I have a Rivera Jake Studio combo which iv gigged with for years {el34} which I was going to take as a backup. I use those valves in the Mod. I put them back in the Rivera, and took out the el34b from the Star amp and put those in the Mod. Thats when I had the bias problem, This was going to be the first Mod 50 gig with the gt8 iv been programming for it, but ill chicken out till next weeks gig and use it then with a new valve set. Appreciate the replies..thx guys...Macka

Egnater manual says it's OK to run mismatched sets, but it does say how mismatched. That is severe enough to cause concern if it were me headed to a gig.

Not harmful...one is either really weak or one is really strong. YOu really should have no more than 4 mv difference. Bad set of tubes!
