I'd describe Slough Feg as sort of a Thin Lizzy meets Iron Maiden styled traditional heavy metal band. Twin guitar harmonies, some great soloing, and (gasp) actual singing. To make everything even better, these guys are a killer live band that puts on a great show. I saw them last Saturday (third time now) and they were phenomenal, one of the best live shows I've seen this year!

Check them out if you can!

Damn, they sound pretty awesome. I'll have to check out more of their stuff.

Their albums are pretty good, but I will admit there is some filler in there (instrumentals, short single-riff songs). Live they're amazing though! So much fun!

I think it's pretty funny that they have a song called, "The Wickerman." :D

you bet your ass I'm going

did they play High Passage Low Passage?

actually, if you can remember, hook me up with a full setlist

I honestly can't remember the full setlist. Hiberno: Latin Invasion (they played this track much faster than the album), Eumaeus the Swineherd, Tiger Tiger, Sky Chariots (awesome live), two other songs off of Down Among the Deadmen, and at least 3 from Traveller, a bunch more. I'm pretty sure they played High Passage Low Passage, but I can't remember 100% - I'm not good with their song titles. They pretty much seemed to be of the mindset that they were going to play whatever the crowd wanted (Mike said "So what do you want to hear?" a couple of times). But it was very awesome.

Mike broke a string during the first song, so they did a little jam type thing while Mike was restringing, very sort of bluesy rock. Then they came back and started playing through the first song again and the power for the venue blew out! Rough start to a show but they didn't even let it phase them. At one point later in their set the power dropped again, drummer held up the beat and Mike still sang and the crowd clapped and sang along too until the power came back on and the band jumped back in.

i'd like to see them, and i'll be in NY on the 21st, but i don't think i'll want to drive another 2 hours or however long it'd take to get to the venue from Saugerties after driving 3+ hours from Boston....

dammit

Slough Feg has had really bad luck touring on the East Coast, apparently. The tour before the last one had terrible turnouts throughout that area and they lost a ton of money so they're kind of selective / hesitant about those East Coast dates.

damn, i'd really like to see them and/or Hammers of Misfortune....but a 2-3 hour drive each way, in an unfamiliar area, when i've already driven 3+ hours, the night before thanksgiving.....eh...not so tempting :aww:
