I've read a ton of posts about problems using pedals in the loop of the xtc. Unfortunately my xtc is on its way to bogner for repair of the effects loop. In the meantime I wanted to purchase a delay pedal to use in the loop. what delay pedals work in the xtc loop? Here are some I was thinking of- MXR carbon copy -- Line 6 M5 -- boss dd3 ? Didn't want to spend a ton on a delay pedal, will any of these work? Thanks for any help

I've been using a Boss DD-3 with decent results. Here is a vid

But I talked to Bogner and was told thw loop runs kinda hot so I asked Santa for a Hardwire DL-8. These pedals can handle up to +6dB and are supposed to sound really great. Steve Lukather is using them with his Bogners.

Thanks sounds great. That helios video got me thinkin about the MXR carbon copy. I contacted Strymon about the el capistan delay and they said that was good up to +8 but they said the bogner could be as high as +12? I think the channel volume has something to do with it. From what I've read I think you have to stay at 10 o'clock or lower and you'll be fine. any other input on this would be great thanks.

Recognized all the Zep, Zakk Wylde, Whitesnake, etc... :) I like it when people post clips using stuff I like :D

Hardwire DL-8. Works great, sounds great with many different types of delays

The Eventide Timefactor also works well - it has a switch to change from "pedal volume" to line level volume so it can cope with almost everything

I also use the timefactor in the loops of my Rev 2 Uberschall and my Twin Jet. I dont have any direct experience using the timefactor with an XTC, but for the Ubers it sounds phenomenal and the MIDI switching is a great added bonus for flexibility.

The timefactor (switchable line level) sounds like a great option. I was looking into the strymon elcapistan but the mfg sent me an e-mail that they weren't sure it would work in the loop of the xtc.

I use the G System connected 4CM & it works great.
Takes a little tweaking but once done it's worth it.
I also control the amp via midi from the G using a Mini Amp Gizmo

Thanks for all the info, can't wait to try some of this stuff. My XTC has been at bogner getting the effects loop fixed. I miss the bitch a lot

I have used the MXR Carbon Copy and my old Boss DM-2 (one of my favorites for the last 30 yrs) with excellent results. But lately I've been loving the Vox Time Machine Delay. What a beautiful sounding delay. And it works beautifully in the loop of all of my amps.

Remember the masters for each channel are the fx sends so the volume will determine what the fx is hit with. If you stay under 10-11am on the channel masters most fx will work ok in the loop, use the return for your master volume.
