Using extension cab with Tourmaster 4212

This may seem like a dumb question, but I want to make sure I don't blow the power transformer. I want to hook up my Tourmaster 2x12 cab to my Tourmaster 4212 so I can use all the speakers. The cab is 8 ohms (mono) and the combo is 8 ohms. When I hook the cab to the second speaker out, I'm assuming I need to switch the impedance to 4 ohms, correct?

Another question is, if I'm on OD2 channel, how/what do people use to boost the volume for solos. I tried a volume boost pedal through the effects loop, but it doesn't boost the volume. I also used it in front of the amp and still doesn't boost the volume.

Thanks!

Bruce, just wanted to tell you, I love the Tourmaster 4212 (though it is a tank when moving it) and I also have the Vengeance with the Tourmaster 212 cab (replaced one of the speakers with an 16 ohm Celestion 75 - use that for my hard rock band). I'll eventually get a Renegade or Tweaker.

for parallel, always remember "Product over Sum" or 8*8/(8+8) = 64/16 = 4 ohm.

good on the ohms

for the boost, a simple trick i use, set the loop to parallel, put a patch cable across send/return

set the levels to taste.

instant tube volume boost.

Sorry it took so long to get back to you. Thanks for all your help. Also, love the boost trick, yeti!
