Hello

I own a Diezel Herbert and Orange 4x12 Cabinet http://www.thomann.de/at/orange_ppc412hp8.htm. I also own also a small recording studio, but I don't own a good sounding bass amp. So I've tried my bass guitar (an active Ibanez) on the Herbert and it sounded great.

I know that Orange cabinets are built to play bass over it - but is my Herbert also built for it?

I know Jacob Hansen ( http://www.jacobhansen.com ) uses a slightly distorted Dual Rectifier together with a clean DI signal to make a good basssound.

So try the Herbert together with your clean signal, best of both worlds.

HAHA - this is very very interesting! Looks like I'm goona be getting an Ampeg 4x10 & run it with Herbert for bass. Thanks for the tip. :lol: :LOL:

Hello

Thanks Peter for your answer. Very good news. Maybe I can afford Lucy in a few months/years, but for now this solution sounds very good to me.

@KillDivision:
Thanks for the hint. I already do my bass recordings very similiar. Per take i get 3 tracks. One direct from the DI-Box, one from the Compensated Out from my old H&K Bass-Amp and one recorded with an AKGD-112 in front of this amp. The first signal gives me the freshness and the other two are compressed to hell and they give me the power of the bass signal -> This works very fine. But my old H&K does not sound good... And with my Herbie I got a cool alternative...

I use my Herbert for recording bass too, through the emulated out. The herbert clean sounds lovely with my bass! I have thought about buying a 2nd hand bass cab, then using the herbert for it properly at non-bedroom volume, as I don't have a decent bass amp at all at the mo'! I don't think buying a Lucy could be justified for me as I'm not really a "proper" bass player! Why buy a lucy anyway, the Herbert can damage building foundations with a normal guitar it has enough bottom end, and it has the benefit of a wicked fuzz-bass sound too! ;) :rock:
