Hi Guys I have a Roland Jc-120 coming and wanted to know what the thru jacks were for. i was wondering if it maybe possible to hook up the roland to my VH4S and it's 2 Mesa cabs and have the JC-120 come through those speakers instead of just the 2 combo speakers? Is that possible? If it is would I be able to midi switch to that amp etc through the Vh4? Thanks!

Don't you have read the manual ? If I can remember the thru is to feed another amp (or a tuner, but not all tuners have the good impedance) like a signal splitter. So it's an output jack, not input, and you won't hear your JC through the VH4's speakers using this method. Correct me 'thru-users' if I'm wrong.

ummm yes I read the manual, and no offense peter I love your amps but the manual stinks on ice. The section basically says plug in an another amp here or tuner.

Also why does everyone ask that? Did you read the manual. Of course I read it, and I would not be posting the question here if I did not read it and it actually explained what it does.

No problem, ;) I thought the manual was clear enough (I think the manual is pretty clear on this point) that it was an output.

thanks man, I just thought there was a way I can run my JC-120 through the Diezel and utilize the 2 mesa 4x12's I am using for the VH4S .Peter?? :D :D

Sure, does the JC-120 have an FX loop or line out? You could try running that into one of the loop returns or inserts on the VH-4, using the JC-120 like a preamp into the Diezel.

thanks man, sounds silly, but I the Jc-120 comes on Tuesday but I will be gone until Thursday to test her out, so I was trying to get some info before she arrives. When she comes I will be sure to post pix and any examples if it works.

Here is a picture of the back outputs and inputs. Maybe this can help with my situation which is to try to get the roland to play through the boogie 2 4x12's

Looking at the pix, since it is a VH4S and I have 2 returns and 1 send maybe I can run it through the parallel loop? or just into the thru jack in the front?

It says this about the Line out in the online manual:

19.LINE OUT Jacks
Use these jacks to connect the JC-120 to another guitar
amplifier or mixer, or to a tape deck for recording. A stereo
pair (L/R) is provided, but mono connections are also
possible (use the L (MONO) jack).

Peter? :D :D :D :D

Anyway the return loop solution is worth only if you want to hear both amps through the VH4 power amp. If not you should use a signal splitter to choose wich amp you wanna hear, or maybe an A/B box after the Thru output. Looks a bit weird :D I suppose you really need it.

Sorry, we will have new manuals soon. This time with perfect
Kraut English

yeah I have an A/B coming for the combo, but was hoping there was a way I could get the Jc-120 tones through the Mesa Cabs :(

Thanks Peter, not that yours are bad, but for Midi or new amp a new amp novice, it could be a little more user friendly. ;)

The only way you could do it like that is to run the JC120's fx send into the VH4's FX return. That would mean it's jc120 preamp and vh4 poweramp though, so you're only getting half from each.

Hey Monty, when you say half is that because, I have 1 send and 2 returns since it is the VH4S? Thanks bro

Nah, what I meant is that you would only be using half of the jc120 (the preamp section) and half of the vh4s (poweramp section. So although the jc120 will be the source of that clean tone, you're not getting the full jc120 preamp/poweramp tone since you would be using the diezel as a poweramp in that case.

ok so if i do that, I can just plug the out of the JC-120 to the return of the DIezel. and on the clean channel I would have it midi set with the FX loop on, and I would have the JC-120 preamp.VH4S power amp tone for channel 1? also how could I do that if the DIezel VH4S has 2 returns? Thanks man!

yyyyyeah...I think. jc120 send to diezel return and turn the fx loop on but nothing else can be plugged into the diezel send jack. not totally sure on how to precisely set it up with the 2 returns though.

ok thanks man, I will play around with it when i get back in town this weekend.
