The V2 Caldera is a one-channel amp with an all-tube signal path, low- and high-gain modes, and a 50W power amp. All meticulously hand-wired with a unique, modular eyelet board design. Sonically, it's firmly ensconced in the hot-rodded M*rshall camp (with one foot grounded in the Jose camp). It's more modern sounding than a JCM800 (more focused, way tighter low end), but has a little less gain than the usual Jose-style amps (Friedman, Cameron, Ceriatone Yeti).

Tube Compliment:
2 x EL34s, 3 x 12AX7

Class:
AB push-pull with adjustable fixed bias. Individual bias jacks and adjustment pots per power tube.

EQ and volume:
Bass, Middle, Treble, Presence, bright switch, pre-amp gain and master volume. Rear-panel BOTTOM switch for FAT or TIGHT low end (for high-gain mode)

The asking price is $1200 plus shipping from WA state. Basically, the cost of a kit-based clone in new condition. But the Caldera is a truly custom design that you will not find anywhere else.

Add a Mod Board for $50. Adds three-position Structure switch and Cali Clipper switch.

Two amps available. Pick chicken head knobs or Davies 1510 style knobs.

Mode switch takes the amp from plexi territory to JCM800+ territory, kinda like a Friedman Smallbox (but without the extra volume knobs).

Built with hand-picked iron! Hammond PT and choke mated with a Classictone OT! Here's one of the Caldera amps with its higher-gain brother, the Denogginizer.

Planning to take the Caldera on a road trip to Seattle Guitar Center in December (assuming the amp is still in my possession). I wanna put it up against the 20- and 50-watt Friedmans. Hopefully they have a decent pre-Xmas stock of boutique amps.

The Caldera is not totally unlike a stripped-down Friedman Smallbox, but with a stiffer power supply.

Rear-panel BOTTOM switch varies the low end of the high-gain mode. Switch between TIGHT and two levels of FAT.

The Caldera with 1510-style knobs just went out the door.

The one with chicken-head knobs is still available. Could be ordered with more vintage-sounding or more modern-sounding preamp (only the high-gain mode is different; low-gain mode is same in both circuits). Comes with my new three-position FAT switch. Drop in a Deluxe Cali Clipper Mod Board for two different clipping circuits!
