I played the Armageddon at NAMM 2011. Awesome sounding amp and great idea having the ISP Decimator on-board. Think of it as an affordable Diezel Herbert.

They had a Vengeance when I was at the Guitar Center in Greenbsoro, NC, the other day. I should have played it, but I didn't have that much time and was more interested in the Tourmaster 212 combo.

I played a Vengence at a GC in Manchester, CT.

It sounded really good, but only to a point. When I dimed the pre and post gain on the Amp and tried using the master volume to keep the sound levels down, the amp became microphonic. It sounded like a fuzz pedal that kept farting. It was really quite a shame, because other than that, the amp sounded great!

I'd like to try the Armageddon if I get a chance to.

Sorry for your disappointment but that is not really the intended use for those knobs. The MAIN master knob is really to just allow you to turn the volume up/down without having to readjust the individual channels. It is not there to help create more gain/distortion. I suggest you don't turn the channel GAIN and VOLUME full up and try to use the MAIN master for volume. You will be overloading the effects loop, reverb etc. Try setting the MAIN master to a more reasonable position (maybe around noon to 2:00?) to start and work from there. Consider how you might set the controls on a mixing/recording console. You would never turn the channel gains and faders full up and use the master/main faders to control the volume. Same sort of idea here. Try to find a reasonable balance between the channel volume and MAIN output volume so you still have room on the controls to turn up or down. Maybe consider trying the amp again with this in mind?? f they have the owner's manual there (or you can find it at egnateramps.com), you'll find a bunch of good suggested settings to start with.

I played the Armageddon at NAMM for about 20 minutes or so...VERY impressed, and the "built in" ISP is a fantastic application and works flawlessly.
