anyone ever try one of these? dude who makes them has been pimping them on HC for a few months, claiming they've been around for 20+ years and used to make cabs for a number of major name brand builders. they sell their standard unloaded 4x12 for about $40 less than Lopoline. i'm curious how their quality is....there's only one review on HC.

http://www.veretone.com

i sent them an email asking for a custom quote, i'll report back with what they tell me.

so, i got an absurdly low price quote....for a slant-front, front-mounting unloaded 4x12 with 3" removable casters, custom tolex/grille colors, piping around the cab (think Hiwatt).....$250 + $69 shipping. i'm intrigued, to say the least.

Do it!

i've been emailing back and forth with the guy, sounds like they're pretty competent. here's what he told me when i asked about who they've built cabs for, and how they manage to sell stuff for so cheap:

Hi. Our shop used to build for Fender, line6, Hiwatt and up to now still does cabs for Orange depending on their needs, Tech-21 and a handful of boutique amp makers. The prices you see in our site is what it is. I try to keep the prices as low as possible. I’d rather sell a lot for less than a few for triple the price. People are actually paying for the name these days. If you read the review given to us in Harmony Central our cab was put to the test side by side with a Marshall.

they're answering a LOT of questions, and pretty quickly....we were having an email conversation around 4:30am, even

Bump. I'm still intrested to hear opinions of these things.

still working out some little details, making sure we're on the same page on everything. i'm expecting an invoice soon, and hopefully not too terribly long after that, i should have some pics to show.

glad i sent a pic of what i was looking for....apparently "slant" means different things to me and the guy at Veretone   he was thinking of a cab where the top is narrower than the bottom, and the sides and baffle are at one angle the whole way down, as opposed to what most companies do for a slant/angled/"top" cab, where it's narrower at the top than the bottom, and about halfway down, it straightens out. Veretone refers to this as a "slant/straight" cab and it's a little more labor-intensive, so it costs a little more. also, the casters i supplied (which i bought online and had shipped directly to Veretone) weigh more than we were told, so the shipping is up a little bit also.

so i'm expecting an invoice tonight, and the cost will be $350 shipped....still not bad, although i had to pay an additional $75ish for the casters, but like i said, i supplied my own because Veretone didn't have what i wanted. should have the cab in about 2 weeks, maybe a little less.
