I was wondering what everyone here thinks of vertical 2 x 12 cabs

I think it'd give me a better idea of the amp's actual sound since it would be right in my face instead of towards my knees

Back in the early 90's when I lived in L.A. there was a company
called Pacific Woodworks that built guitar cabs and they made a
2x12 vertical cab that actually sounded pretty good. The bottom
half was a closed back design that looked alot like a EV TL112
speaker cab design on it's side and the top half had the angle
design and was open back....It seemed to be pretty popular with
some of the session players out there as well....
The draw back to a smaller 2x12 design is that you can still
run you amp or rack into it and it will usually handle the wattage, but
you're trying to make 2 speakers do the output coverage of 4,and
alot of times it just don't cut it.....It's going to sound thinner and
not have the 4x12 thump that we're use to hearing .........
Try ebay- I seen some of these cabs on there before.....

slinger, post some pics of your guitars. I'm more into guitars than amps anyhow. and I love Ibanez.

also, the cabs I was thinking of are those lopoline cabs and throwing some warehouse speakers in em

the desert yellow, the green, and the crackly charvel are my faves

how much was that Charvel? and is it an OFR?

the crackley charvel was $150 at guitar center. It's not an OFR. It's a Schaller JT590 lo profile.

Wow,very cool...Those are the cabs! From what I remember
the used to load those up with an EV Series II or a Proline in the
bottom and a Celestion in the top......I forgot to mention that
Mesa/Boogie is still doing a 2x12 vertical cab that's wider and a
little deeper than the Pacifics cabs are...........

Yeah, Mesa-Boogie still make the vertical cabs.
I've been waiting to move into a permanent place to get an Engl 212V

Engl's are cheaper here than the Mesa equivalent. For me at least.

id love one of those halfback mesa 2x12... but the size of them doesnt work for me... since my head is almost twice the size of them :D
