Email sent but no idea. Maybe the switch
is wrong marked. Try the other setting.

i had the other day a similar problem with one of my herberts, i checked the bias cause the amp didnt sound as always and one fuse was blowed, and my multimeter readed 14mA, on the 1&6, and 3&4, i was unable to bias this way so i put my bias master and then the reading was ok...its a herbert with the outside bias. this amp was biased 6 months ago correctly, and with my tech, and something similir happened, but suddenly the reading worked good. we thinked that was a heating process, but this time, i wait for 30 minutes...so its not the case. we tried a few of multimeters...and was the same.

peter, its there any protection? the fuse was out. and the meter readed 12-14mA even at maximum pot trim. i am calm cause i have my biasmaster, but i cant use a normal meter...

p.d: stapfer is out? i couldnt contact him since 2 months, no mail, no phone...i need to talked with him soon.

best!

I didn´t had this issue on my workbench so I
cannnot help untill I have the amps.

Peter Stapfer is not out, maybe busy ;)

Did You set the bias switch behind
the tubes to EL34 ?

The switch is on el34 and I tried the 6l6 and that just lowered the mA more. I did however get it working. I don't know what changed but before I started to put back in the head shell I gave it one last try and the EL34's worked! And they sound great!!! So for now the problem is fixed. I even thought there was something wrong with my Multi meter so tried another and the same low bias readings. I tried to play the amp and it was real thin sounding with no power. Now it's perfect!!! Thanks for the help guys.

Funny!
Yesterday i tried to check the bias of my Herbert...just for fun. I just wanted to try it out.
Made everything like described, but no value on my MM?!?!?!?!?!?

There is maybe a broken fuse inside Your MM ;)

No sun here in Bavaria

How are you doing Mister Peter? All is quiet over here in the Diezel forum and everyone looks happy? I tried to email and call you last month. We spent 6 weeks just loafing around Europe and about 10 days was in Germany. Started in Berlin, down to Nurenburg, Munich, Constantine then headed off to Salzburg. We were pulling for your football team and were in Nurenburg for the quarters. Big street party there afterwards. We had Eurorail passes and just traveled when we had enough of one place. Drank plenty of your beer and had great time.

Steve

Me and my wife got swiped by some girl with the German flag face paint, as did my daughter. My kids in the bottom photo.

Catch you next time then Peter. Most definitely going back. If my wife could get some more time off, we would fly up for Octoberfest. Still may be able to do a few days though. I must have been calling Stapfer's number x-1041.

Steve
