Hi there
I've owned my VH-4 for a few months now, and it has recently developed a problem with the clean channel. When I turn the amp on, for the first 15 minutes or so of playing, channels 2, 3 and 4 work perfectly, but channel 1 has massive volume swells, and sounds like it is being played behind a thick cloth (really dull, lifeless and muddy). At max volume it is only just audiable.
However, after the amp has been on a long time (around 30 mins) the problem sorts itself out, and the channel works fine.
What could be causing this? I thought about a dodgy pre amp tube connection, but checked them all, and they seem fine, so I'm stuck. It doesn't seem to be the power tubes, as the other 3 channels work fine all the time...
Please help! I'm sick of using channel 2 as a clean channel!

Might be a bad preamp tube or that it has detached a bit from the socket (yes it has happened to me in the past)!
Check V1 and V4 (those are used for the clean channel AFAIK).
Otherwise the 'masters' will chime in soon.

Thanks for the quick reply!
What do you mean by "dettached from the socket"? The socket itself is detached from the wiring, or the tube is detached?
I'll check this out though...
If anyone else knows what this might be, please chime in!
I love this amp, and it actually pains me to have anything go wrong with it!

I meant tube from the socket.
And I hope is something easy like this.

Ok thanks - I've pulled all the tubes, cleaned them, and cleaned the sockets with contact cleaner, but still have the same problem. :( I hope this doesn't get expensive...

Nah I don't think it must be expensive.
Have you swapped tubes in various positions to see what happens?

Ok I'll check it later when I can get to my amp.
Thanks for the quick response guys, and I'll let you know how it goes.
