VH 4 sound "demo" in an unusual setting (Funk Rock)

Hey guys,

for those of you who are interested, I uploaded a song featuring the Diezel VH 4 in a non-metal environment (the song is called Disco by my band Venus in Furs)! Also, I used all four channels. The signal chain is: Gibson Les Paul (EMG 81/89) -> Diezel VH 4 -> Two Notes Torpedo VB-101 with a Diezel cab impulse response -> Presonus FireStudio -> Logic Express

CH 1: 0:08 - 0:32, 0:50 - 1:05. With auto wah and some compression
CH 2: 0:33 - 0:49, 1:06 - 1:20, 3:23 - 3:39. Mids way up, gain I don't remember. Strictly neck pickup (EMG 89, humbucker mode).
CH 3: 1:21 - 1:37, 3:39 - 4:31. 2 tracks on either side with slightly different mic'ing, gain at about 1 o'clock.
CH 4: 1:37 - 3:23. With just some delay, gain at about 1:30 with some more mids than CH 3.

Presence is at about 1 o'clock, volume halfway up.

Please don't give me crap about the leads :D , I know they're not perfect but it was completely improvised and like 10th take at 2 am. Also never mind the lyrics. They're totally our singer's work. I'm his guitarist, not his English teacher :lol: :LOL:

I like it!! The leads aren´t that crappy. It´s really different from the sounds I do with my VH4!!

Thanks! As I said it was like the tenth take out of around 15 improvisations that I had done for that part. I ended up using that one because it seemed to fit best despite the flaws...

You're totally right, but I'm probably just overly critical with myself on this. I do like the solo part, too! I just can't get over the fact that it's not quite on the spot.

Anyways, I just wanted to show how good the VH 4 does in this situation that's pretty unusual for an amp that's supposed to be the high gain heavy metal monster. By the way, I'm more of a hard rock and heavy metal player, too. :rock:

Meine Oma hat früher immer gesagt, ich soll eitler sein. Vielleicht hab ich's übertrieben :confused: Das bezog sich aber glaube ich eher auf meine Frisur :lol: :LOL: Du hast schon recht, das passt schon! Wir sind auch abgekommen, eigentlich sollte es ja um den Amp gehen...

Sorry for german but, der Anfang vom Solo ist wirklich wahnsinnig gut! Nur hast du diesen Ansatz nicht fortgeführt. Die leichten Timing Schwankungen finde ich halb so wild.
Aber Schau eher, dass du die Idee vom Anfang weiter bringst. Der Rest vom Solo ist zwar gut bis sehr gut aber im Vergleich zum Anfang zu improvisiert.
Ich dachte am Solo Anfang echt, dass ein Studio Gitarrist am Werke ist.

Ach komm, jetzt übertreibst du aber ;-) Aber vielen Dank! Ich denke trotzdem, dass mir zum Studiogitarristen einiges fehlt, vor allem die "Stilsicherheit", wenn man so will. So einer wie Steve Lukather, John Petrucci (ja, der auch!) oder Guthrie Govan von der jungen Garde fühlt sich ja in nahezu jedem Musikstil zu Hause. Die können Metal genau so wie Jazz. Jazz geht mir halt voll ab, da bin ich 'ne absolute Null.

Lied und Solo hier sind übrigens Finalversionen, aber für die nächsten Geschichten werde ich mir die Kritik zu Herzen nehmen.
