VH4 and G-Force noise

Hi,

I recently bought a VH4 and a TC Electronic G-Force to go with it. The problem is low hum or hissing I get when plugging the G-Force into the serial effects loop of the VH4. I've tried a Boss GT-8 and it worked without any noise, but when I tried the G-Force, the soundguy ordered me to take it out  . The amp is silent when I turn up the master volume if there's nothing in the loop, but when I plug the G-Force (also tried an old Ibanez flanger, same noise) it starts to hiss when I turn the master volume up. It even makes the same noise when I turn the master volume up while the G-Force is in the parallel loop and the loop isn't on.

So, what can it be? A ground loop perhaps? A bad tube buffering the loop? G-Force just makes that noise?

Also, how should I set up the G-Force? Is the serial loop -6dB or what? I'm a total noob with the G-Force. I guess the GT-8 is simple enough for me.

TC designs their input and output jacks to be used with shielded cables. Maybe they know something ?
In most cases a normal patch cable works fine, but in others it can pick up ground loop hum or interference
from the air waves. Try a TRS shielded cable and a ground loop eliminator. If it's in a rack, isolate the screws as well.

My einstein's noise floor increases when using the loops. its nothing major but a hiss as you describe. I swapped tubes around and some were a little better than others but i think its the nature of the beast. have you tried using a gate on the g force to silence it?

I use a TC Nova System with my Einstein and Schmidt and it is dead quiet.
I am using a Pedalsnake for my hookups.
I did notice some noise, however when I used a G-Force, no matter what I did with it, but I unloaded it long before I got my first Diezel.

The gate doesn't take the floor noise (when my guitar is not even plugged in) away. Might just be G-Force. Well, it's no problem when playing with a band. I might try some Telefunkens in the V5 and V6 to tame the loop noise a bit.

Okay, so I've got a VH4, Columbus and a G-Force. I've got the Columbus hooked to the in-jack of the VH4. Today I went to buy a midi-cable from a store and bought a 5-pin-to-5-pin midi-cable. It didin't fit in the thru of the VH4. Do I need a 5-pin-to-7-pin cable or what?

In is a 7 Pin DIN and Thru is a 5 Pin.

So are there different 5-pin cable ends or how can it not fit? :aww: I better try again I guess.

It seems that the cable works even though it doesn't fit properly. It doesn't go all the way in. Well, at least it works.
