Does anyone here have experiences playing VH4 with THD Hot Plate?

Thanks...

I was using until I changed my setup and cabs which had different impedance as the HotPlate had. There was no problems and sound was OK. If the pricing would be more reasonable I would buy one again. I wonder what are you interested about?

Im not trying to sound rude here, but I also recommend trying the search function as there has been at least few long discussions about power attenuators including THD HotPlates.

From what I recall, Peter Diezel does not recommend power soaks, hot plates etc.

I thought the same when I first read this thread, but didn't reply because I wasn't sure. I probably have a misconception here. Are power soaks and attenuators the same thing?

Power soaks and attenuators have in most cases
resistors inside to swap electrical power into heat.

The speaker has an inductivity which responses to
the output transformer and the tubes. It´s like
an exhaust on Your car.

If You play a note, the speaker moves forward.
Then the speaker moves backward and causes
some power back to the power amp.

So the electrical reaction is much more "healthy"
with an inductive load than simple resistors.

We don´t recommend attenuators, because they
cause unnecessary stress to the tubes.

Please excuse my bad English for the explanation,
maybe Mark 2C helps me with a proper translation.

Thanks,

Peter

Thanks Peter for your reply! You are the best and your English is fine ;)
