For some reason my VH4 ch3 and 4 are sounding a bit shrill.... ch1 and 2 are beautiful! and I could live with this I'd just have to turn the treble and mids a little bit, but even at 12:00 it sounds a bit too shrill.....any ideas?

Is this something new you are noticing, Joey? Or has it always been like that?

Nope, it was new, and I think we got the anwer.

A loud "hum" noise came out the amp right now while I was playing and I checked the tubes, and two power tubes where glowing blue and much much more candescent than the other two.

there goes a pair of KT77

I'll install 4 6L6s I got here and be done with it (I prefer 6L6 cleans a bit more)

When I order new tubes I'll order some 6550 and two more KT77 for the pair I have here, just as spare tubes.

Ehh, I don't even wanna think how many sets of tubes I went through. I bias hot, that's probably the main reason why. Do you bias hot?

Well I've only biased the VH4 one time and I bias as Diezel recommends. This time around the amp came from Peter and I guess he biased it normal.

Well I absolutely love my VH4 but those tubes blown out was a sign that I should get that Axe Fx when my payment comes in!

by the way barts, I LOVE that avatar pic! can I see more from all your gear?

Well, that avatar is a sign of me abandoning the Les Pauls. I still like the LPs a LOT & they still kick for non metal content, but as of today my main axe is the Horizon.

You can see some pics of the gear I've been through here

Other than that usually I take pics of my gear when I sell them :D

no no no, no replacing! :gethim: :gethim: :powpow:

Adding

With the Einstein sell I could finally buy something I wanted/needed for a while without using any of my savings. So I'm buying the Axe Fx from the savings :D

Why the hell wait, I'm recording an album and it can serve me well right now, so fuck that.

I'll use it with my VH4 poweramp, but I really wanna get a poweramp for itself and make it an Axe Fx standalone rig, that way I can use it as an Fx processor for the VH4, but if the vH4 fails (like today for example, the tubes went out on me) I can use the Axe Fx Rig which will be right there, ready to roll.

I don't like the FOH thing because you have to depend on an engineer and PA (neither of whom you can be certain are any good). So I already need to rack the Axe, so, why not add a poweramp and a furman power cond. and be don with it :D

The Axe will also be great for my late night jamming/recording sessions.

But today I played my VH4 for almost 4 hours with decent volume, and man, it's just a work of art that amp. There's no way I'm replacing that with a modeler.

Great looking studio setup NB. You've done a nice job!

As for the Axe FX....I know it sounds great but I'm pretty sure in 6-10 months, you'll all have those for sale as well. For me at least, if you need to record quietly, nothing beats a good quality ISO cab with the speaker you want in there.
