I am thinking im going to have to give up the vh4 its just to loud for what i use it for, my question is for a mint 2009 vh4 and a 2009 2x12 hempcone diezel cab, what should i ask for it in the uk market? and has anybody any ideas of a lower watt amp i can replace it with, 2 channels is enough but must have that metal chugg!

I maybe interested in the 2x12. How many watts is it though?

i really want to move them on together, i may split if i have trouble getting rid

I would take the Thomann price and knock 30% off. That brings you to around 2,100GBP.

If you wanna move it fast in "these economic times" I would offer it for 2,000GBP.

Ok sure man. Keep me posted if you change your mind. Where abouts are you based aswell?

yeah i was thinking about 2100 2200 so thats not to bad, just have to find a new amp

How much would you offer it up for if I put an original 5150 (2 channel chugga chugga) into the equation? Just out of interest...

a 50W Diezel Einstein. :D

that said: 100W arent really louder than 50W...

TBH I don't think you will be more happy with a smaller wattage amp.

I think the VH4 still sounds good at low volume though? I might be wrong ...

My experience has always been that the "bigger" amps sound better, even at bedroom volume. I had a TinyTerror and a Univalve as well as a Budda Superdrive, they all sounded great when they were cranked, but they sounded thin when down low.

On the other hand my 100W Eini, 80W Shiva, 100W Steavens, 50W Marshall, 100W XTC ... etc all sounded bigger than those toaster amps, even when turned all the way down. I think it's the headroom of the output transformer that gives size to the tone, even when they're not pushed.

the problem i have is when i run my amp at 9 oclock my room shakes lol this is the lowest volume i can go to and im happy with the tone, anything less i dont get my chugg!

You will regret getting rid of the VH4. If you really want to lower the volume, but keep the tone and feel
use a TC G-Major in the serial loop and adjust the input and output on the effects unit. It's good to remove
at least 60% of the volume and you can run the effects output at -6dB. You can also turn your Master up for
power amp feel and turn your channel volume down.

Please don't be fooled by the Einstein. At 50 or 100W they a freaking LOUD !!!

Il second both of Marks points, I can attest to how freaky loud the Einstein is and also how great Gmajor is at controlling said volume!

My 2p worth, keep the VH4.

I suspect that the 'chug' you are after comes at least in part from simple speaker movement, any amp that moves a speaker a given amount is going to use a given amount of power, and that is going to be loud.

You can get some great tone out of the VH4 at 'TV' volumes. We found the best sound came from a mix of the hempcones and V30 (see sig), the hempcone has great across the range response, and really good high frequency detail, but the V30's add a bit of punch to the mix. See if you can try out a mix of the two, it may get you near what you want.

My wife uses the TC Electronics G-System with the VH4, add an expression pedal and you have an instantly available 2nd volume, yes it will suck tone a bit, but thems the breaks.

Talk to James at Diezel UK, he might be able to hook you up with a demo or even a trial cab?
