Hi

I am new here :) . Just wanted to rush in and give some quick thoughts on the VH4, which Im using since just a few weeks.
I was used quiet a while to the sound of a Rivera KR100 + K3x12sub, capable of some unique and beautiful tones - and the sub delivers an awesome LF boost - but that is also where the trouble started, especially playing live. While in rehearsal the Rivera has really an all-embracing sound, its imho very very hard to take this power live via microphones - as a result I often had a very harsh p.a. signal (although miced on sub and V30), while on stage everything was cool. Not to speak of the very poor Midi-control solution and the missing master volume
In the end imho an amp with top-level sounds (awesome cleansound!! + crunch/ little more sarurated crunch!!!) but with some user unfriendly thingys..
Now with the VH4 all of theese problems are gone: (2008 Version with 6550s) All the 4 channels are grand! shure it hasnt the fenderish cleans of the Rivera but the signal is so fluid clean and sweet in CH1 that I dont miss it. Up the channels they are each great in their own way. The amp runs over a FL K100/V30 Diezel cab (x pattern). I would say the difference in LF output to the K3x12sub is amazing little (!). Cant wait to use this monster live. ;)

I recently discovered that u can even boost the channels on the VH4 without a booster :) link send2 to return parallel --> adjust "volume parallel loop" to your liking, switch send2 on the front and :D

many many thanks to Peter&Peter which where both amazing helpful and friendly (and quick!!!)
all the best to you!

I've put off buying a Diezel too long.....as soon as Peter puts out a rack preamp, I'm gonna sell my kidney and buy it.

Congrats! I love my VH4.

Tell me more about this boost. Is it like a solo/vol boost or a gain boost? I've never heard of anyone doing that.

Hi DEWD
not having a too detailed technical background I would say its a volume boost. in my humble words: it adds the level of the parallel loop to your signal - only that no fx needs to be inserted. As said: link send2 directly to parallel return, adjust "volume parallel loop" on the front to 12h or more and activate the send 2 switch, when you want to have a volume increase (while playing the same channel (or sound)) - this makes the vh4 having 8 channels, instead of 4 :D
well, kind of...

From Vh4/vh4s Manual:

3.2.4 Loop as Second Master Volume
Those of you who can live without processors in the parallel loop can use this loop for a second master volume for each channel.
To do this, just loop a short 1/4” cable from send 2 to parallel loop return. Now you can choose a second master volume by turning the mix control past 1:00 PM to full open, and push the send 2 button to activate your second master volume. To do this for the VH4S, you must use a Y-cable and send the signal from send 2 to parallel return A and B.

;)

so, you boost the output level not the gain.
