VH4 + lots of feedback?

I have been lately having problems with feedback on my VH4.

I had new Tungsol 12X7 pre amp tubes and Svetlana / SED 6L6GC power tubes changed by a professional, and now it seems
that the amp has much more feedback than before.

I guess I use Diezel on pretty high volumes: Ch3 gain 12-03, volume 12-03 and main volume around 11-15. when preamp volumes get close to clock 3, feedback is getting out of hand, same with main volume. Same thing with ch4, even with a bit lower gain/volume settings.

I am using PRS custom 24 with stock pick ups (dragons?), so the pick ups should be pretty ok. I have a healthy space between me and the amp while i am playing, but still the feedback really strong even if i go as far as my line lets me (7m).

I also tried changing places of the preamp tubes, but it did nothing to help the feedback.

Maybe it is just too much volume/gain, but out training room and music style demands pretty high volumes.

Gate might help with the feedback, but i would rather not use one with my VH4.

Any suggestions or solutions anyone?

That´s a lot of gain and volume, so feedback
is kind of normal.

Try to lower the pickups and use a gate.
Lower gain settings will help a lot.

Yes, i was thinking it might be normal, just thought i got a bit more feedback when i changed the tubes. We also moved to another training room, so it might be the new room creating part of that increased feedback.

Lower gain would help, thats true, but the sound of the high gain is just too good for me ;)

Are these your band settings?

another plug for the isp! i enjoy the channel volumes up so it helps me keep a leash on the noise at stage level,

Yup, when training in our training room. We have a really heavy handed drummer, and at this moment pretty bad acoustics in our training space, so we need to really use high volume on guitar amplifiers to be able to hear anything.

High gain sound (12-03) of the diezel ch3 is really sweet in my and bandmates ears, so thats what i have been using with the band.

ISP decimator is going be my next investment i think. I have heard good things of it.

man, don't forget to wear earplugs, or just tell the drummer to hit softer....ear damage is a bitch
