I've got a brand new Diezel VH4 on the way, I'm shitting my pants in anticipation.

And only because of this, I want to ask you guys what are some good settings to get right down to the awesome buried within.

Comes with 6550's, I play aggressive metal, ala Architects or similar.

Is this amp worth boosting?

Thanks guys!

Hook me up with da blond!

I must agree with the others although I haven't tried the VH4 for myself, I don't think you'll ever need to boost the gain on a Diezel amp. Of course, if you play blues or otherwise want some "dirt" on the clean channel, sure go ahead and boost that..but as far as rock/metal tones, I would say the amp will more than likely sound better on its own!
Anyway congrats on your new VH4! enjoy it, play loud, and use earplugs!

Now an OT question for Pauly: how do you like your new hempcone cab ? :) How does it compare to the G12K100 for metal tones? Didn't know you'd gotten one...you must be in gear acquisition mode

edit: nevermind, I read the other cab thread just now...way cool!

i am in a gear aquiring mood...called having no girlfriend or wife that i have to buy christmas presents for!!!

A blind baboon could set the amp up and it will still kick ass.

I use a BB Preamp on Channel 2 for extra clean boost and tone shaping with the gain at 1:00.
Anything over 1:00 and it's got it's own mojo, but you can boost it with the gain maxed and get
a seriously, like George Lynch on crack overdrive. Channel 3 and 4 are ridiculous in the gain department.

You certainly don't need to boost a VH-4, but they sound damn good if you do.
Channel 2 boosted is freaking amazing.

Channel 4 gets a little thin when you boost it because it's so dry to begin with, but channels 1-3 are awesome when boosted.

For the $100 investment, it's a totally worthwhile addition to an already amazing amp.
