hi, as there are not soundclips of the VH4 from the Diezel site, i ask in here for your advices.

which amp is more Metal oriented between the Vh4-s and the Herbert? i like a lot the Herbert sound, it's so liquid and full of gain  so tube voiced.
1 does the Herbert come with the columbus pedalswitch?
2 how must i pay for a used one?
3 would i benefict warranty buying one used with one year of warranty to face?

from you tube videos i cannot understand the real sound of the VHS tohugh :( i have to compare them in order to understand the differences of their sounds.

i play both rock ( Smashing Pumpkins ) and any genre of metal, mainly Metallica' songs ( Ride the Lightning - Master of Puppets - And Justice For All, i don't like the sound of Kill 'Em All album ) to 80's metal sounds like Ozzy.. Black Sabbath (70') and actual metal style of sound, death, black, gothic metal.

which amp do you suggest me? the VH4 or the Herbert?

i need this kind of amp as i need a hi gain amp in order not to use pedal boxes for distoriton.

i play most of the time at home ( low volume level ) then i could bring with me tha amp to reherasal and then playing it at higher volume level.

i'll wait for all your infos and comments
thanx!

Herbert sounds really really(!) good at lower volumes! Better (imho) than the VH4 at these volume.

I bought the herbert because I loved the "mid-cut" option that is available for every channel...sounds so perfect for real metal/hardcore stuff...

Hello

I also bought an Herbert because I liked his realy heavy sound. But I found out that the Herbert can a lots of other sounds too... For strictly metal I would recomend the Herbert...

No it comes not with a Columbus. I saw an Herbert on ebay... I think 2500 € was the price at the end...

Forunately I got yesterday my Sennheiser MD421 and so i made a small (and very very fast recording)... please forget the quality (something is humming, drums suck, and no bass, no mixing/mastering done on the files - only lowcut and a compressor...) but it's better than youtube quality :)

thanx for the reply and the sample too ;) rocking track :)

i found one used ( that i can't listen in person as it is far from my city ) for 2800E.. but for that price i would indicate my 3rd finger to him... :gethim:  he say his amp got EL34 stock ...hasn't the Herbert got the 6L6 stock???

i read all this forum in 2 days... i read that VHS has a somewhat function that gives you the chance to crank the power tubes at lower volumes too, while the Herbert hasn't, is it true? (this, master volume apart)

so it has no Columbus nor a simple footswitch pedal?

EL34 are the stock tubes for Herb, VH4 and Einstein.

And no, the Herbert does not come with a footswitch. If you already have a midi footswitch you can use that otherwise you'll need one!

I finally got to put a VH4 side-by-side with my Herbert today. The Herbert is definately the amp to go with if you want metal. The VH4 is tighter than the Herbert (though the Herert is really tight) but the Herbert does the brutal metal much, much better.

I've never played a Herbert, but I suspect it may edge out the VH4 for metal. That being said, I can get a great metal tone out of my VH4 as long as I use an EQ in the effects loop. Using a parametric EQ I cut around 200Hz and it is tight and sounds awesome for metal tones. I like both ch3 and ch4. Ch3 is tight and ch4 has a bit more "scream" to it. I've had good results with both 6L6s and EL34s, although I think EL34s are a bit better for metal tones.

Without using an EQ in the effects loop the VH4 tends to sound too "warm" but with this simple addition it's great for metal! From what others have said though the Herbert may be better for metal out of the box.

ok i'm ready for the Herbert!
who want to send me one as a gift?

now seriously,

for the attention of Diezel management: do you have an ex demo or used and guaranteed Herbert to sell me at a cheaper price?

i owned both and i play metal most of the time and i like the herbert the best.
the herbert has so many nice tones, ive found some nice rock tones on ch2-mode with the mid cut off.
