Hey Gang;

I've got a shot at a new VH4 that I can get right now, but having minimal experience with the amp, I am not sure yet if I should get it.

I have also been considering a Herbert, but again, minimal experience with one.

I currently have a 100 watt Einstein, and I absolutely love it. I think it is an amazing amp, and I love the tone (particularly the tones of the clean, mega and ch3 settings). I want to get the Diezel (to which I am now brand-loyal, as I am so impressed by them) that will sound the closest to the Einstein, but still have its own thing. I am parting with the Einstein ONLY because I want the flexibility of being able to footswitch between more than 2 sounds, which I really can't on the Einstein unless I get it modded (which I won't).

What do you guys/gals think? I am going to try to make this final sometime today or tomorrow (when I place my order).

Thanks. BTW, selling a 100w Einstein, 2 months old and in perfect condition-not even gigged yet. Prefer sale locally, but will ship in Continental US if someone prepays me via PayPal and is willing to eat shipping. Purchased for $3199, sell for $2199.

I've tried all three, and the Herbert was my favorite. I didn't give the VH4 more than 20 minutes of my time, so I'm sure I perhaps didn't get familiar enough to really understand its sounds, but to me the Herbert and Einstein were more up my alley. Of the three, the VH4 was the most immediately "cold", if that makes any sense. Don't get me wrong, killer amp...but between that and the Herbert, I ended up choosing the Herbert for its "looser" sound. I had an hour in a studio to try both of the amps, and after 20 minutes with the VH4 I switched to the Herbert. It was my plan to switch back to the VH4 after 20 or 30 minutes, but I ended up just playing the Herbert until my time was up. :D

I ve never played a Herbert. But I own a VH4. The VH4 is for me the better Einstein. As I pointed out before, the Einstein didn t convince me. By the way, isn´t it funny that my posts, in which I explained what was wrong for me with the Einstein, are not there any more. I wonder if they have been deleted.
Back to the topic. The VH4 has lots of balls but isnt too aggressive or brutal. Its not a Nu-Metal amp or something like that. You can get very classic tones out of it.
