Please see manual.

The effects in the parallel loop has to be set
to 100% wet (only effects).

is it phased if you connect send and return with a short quality cable without any FX involved?

my suspicion is that your FX unit even with 100% still let's through some uneffected signal, imposing its AD/DA conversion delay, which would cause the phasing.

Normally with a short cable that delay should be neglectable. So if it's unphased with the cable (or the phasing is very minimal) the issue is with the effect, not offering a full killdry.

The mix knob on the Digitech Harmony Man and DL4 according to the owners manual always has a dry signal
sent unless the mix knob is full up/on. When it is full up, there is no dry signal but only the harmonized/processed
output so it does not appear either is truly suitable for a parallel loop. Try them in the serial loop or channel inserts.
People may shy away from serial loops, but Diezel's have the best serial loops out there.

This is the IDEAL setting for a parallel loop. They should both work flawlessly in your loop.

The effect's can only be 100% or nothing. You cannot set any other levels or parameters and
to me, each unit may be phasing each other is what I meant to say. Use one in the serial and one in the parallel.

the parallel loops mix knob can be used to blend the effects to lower than 100%. why can't the other parameters be changed?

I am not familiar with those units.

Unlike effects processors, the internal levels are unadjustable programs.
The loop mix knob works great, but you can also hear phasing at low
master volume settings. I for one, just use a TC rack unit set to kill dry and consumer mode.
It sounds fine except when the master is at 7:00.

The send 2 loop on the VH-4 is crippled absolutely none of my effects sound good through it, even when I dime the mix on my effects AND the blend knob on front all my effects still sound like they are only half there, and that half sounds like it's under a blanket...

The Harmony Man is set to allow 0 dry when the knob is maxed, but in my experience pitch effects don't seem to work
well in any parallel loop. The DL4 is pretty vague in the manual and does not state a full kill dry, so it may be the culprit.

You can use the G-Major with V1.27. It has the kill dry and consumer mode for a good loud parallel effect with adjustable individual output
levels for all effect blocks.

That's why I run my FX in front of the amp. I don't have to fuck with none of that shit. But, I have tried stuff through the loop before and there is nothing wrong with the design.

But....

One Q for you though...do you have the FX plugged into the same power source as the amp? Sounds almost like you are picking up AC cycle noise.

Could also be the return driver tube (the next to the last preamp tube). Try jumping a lead from Send 2 to parallel return (no FX) and turn the mix control up on the amp. Hit the send 2 button. Hear any of the same cyclical hum?

Eventide Timefactor, killdry engaged was pretty damn great in the parallel loop of my old VH4. I haven't tried it with the VH4S yet, but you guys are getting me freaked out.
