Is it possible at all to get a power cut mod done on my VH4 so that I could run it with two tubes at a time?

Also wondering if this would be hard on the amp? or just on the power tubes that I run when it's two at a time.

Thanks

Do you want to decrease the overall volume?

Sorry, I don't get your question . . .

yes, that's exactly what i want to do, I'm trying to figure out a way to be able to get the full tone of the VH4 without having to play at ear blasting volumes all the time

To be honest: the easiest way would be to use either

- a good loadbox (like the Marshall SE-100) plus some Ambience reverb and headphones
- or instead of the loadbox an isolated cab (plus the other things).

Of course you can pull a pair (-3dB), but its sweet spot would be still "loud". Of course you could hook an atenuator like a hotplate to it (-12dB), but IMO that sounds like shit. Of course you could install these EL34toEL84 things, but it changes the character.

Load + headphones or into a small poweramp would be my choice.

thanx for the advice, what are some other good loadboxes, there don't seem to be many se100s available anywhere, and the only others i know are the powerbrake and the hot plate, both of which i've heard bad things about

You can use a Hotplate as a load box (full attenuation).

More units:
Palmer PGA 04, PDI 03
Koch Loadbox II
Groove Tubes so and so (see their website)
