Hi, I was just using my VH4 and the sound completely died out. Tube fault 3 is showing a red light but I thought if one failed there should still be sound? The tubes are JJ KT77's and are only a couple of months old and where biased according to Peter's specs so I don't see why the tube should have failed already? The actual tubes all appear to be lighting up just fine, none have gone super hot or look dead.

I am using the correct ohmage on my cab.

Am I going to need to replace tubes already?

Thanks.

Check if the main fuse is still good. Its in the washer of the mains jack, there are two, one spare (closer to the amp's rearpanel) and one operating (closer to the inner side of the amp).

If its is dead, use the spare, change the power tubes and rebias.

The main fuse is fine, checked that, the amp is still all turning on fine and I can hear sound coming through the tubes but nothing is then coming out of the speaker cab. Think I am gonna need to change power tubes then?

Right managed to sort it out, I'm a retard and the speaker cable in my cab (run in a seperate room) had come out enough to just disconnect from the cab Couldn't tell when I was just doing a quick look behind. I'm a div hahah, thanks for the time and sorry to bother you :)

On a side note, I am considering changing the tubes anyway, the KT77's are a bit too dry sounding if you know what I mean? I like a tight sound but this might be abit too tight haha. An y reccommendations?

Peter prefers 6550 now. Depending on their bias they could be even dryer than the KT77s - or not. I'm still an EL34s guy and like them good =C=s, you know . . .
