just after some help guys im having a problem with the tones on my amp im wondering if it could be the cab i using ? im running a 2x12 marshall 1936 lead. I can't seem to get a good clean tone it sounds mushy also channel 2 and 3 sound almost like the sound your hifi makes when its to loud if that makes sence im only running it at 9-10 oclock so not to loud. Maybe valves ? i dont have any valave faults on ? Just really having a hard time finding a good crisp tone any time i play chords the sound just sounds bad im sure evan on the dirty channel they should sound crisp cant play stuff like oasis just sounds bad cant under stand it i know the amp can do this.

I don't know Broheem. I have not found a cabinet yet to make the VH4 sound bad.
Could be the guitar, cables, tubes...

Could be lots of things to tweak. But, you are not doing the amp justice in that little Marshall 2x12 (speakers and cheap construction). Everything will sound like ass in it. My advise would be to have a look at upgrading the cab and you will hear the VH4 come alive. Best place to start is with Diezel and I am partial to the front loaded V30 4x12. Of course, that is the source of other exhausting threads. You will hear things you never thought could fly from your fingers.

my room is a loft and i cant fit a 4x12 in so i can only fit a 2x12 so what do you think a mesa boogie 2x12 ? how bout cables i use good cables how far should you go though i use £29.99 cable's i have seen them for £70 £80 will that make a differnce. As far as guitars there not really bad guitars im using ESP KH2 relic emg 81/81 (i know the cleans arnt good) also a manson with 2 bareknuckle p90's also a parker fly deluxe. Also the valve when i got the amp home there were 2 fuses out on 1 and 2 i rang james up the uk rep and was told to change the fuses and see what happens could the valves still carry faults ? How about a valve change another brand ? The tones just seem mushy ill post some videos later she what you think i have come from a mesa boogie single recto and the cleans on that i found were better and i know that not to be the case.

I think you just answered your question. If you had fuses out and something doesn't sound right after replacing them you need to replace the tubes. 95% chance they're blowing the fuses because something is shorting out or getting ready to. If they get really bad you could blow something else, like a screen grid resistor for instance, then bam...tech time. A bad power tube also gives a looser low end and will have a harsh coloring to the sound which is grainy and fuzzy, the decay of notes can be weird too under gain. Which this kind of sounds like what you're describing.

I have no experience (yet! :D ) with Diezel cabs, but I've been VERY happy with my Bogner OS2x12 cab. Sounds almost as big as a 4x12.

got a new amp on its way there was a problem with it thank god :-) quad somthing or other had to be replaced but james is sorting me out a brand spanker
