I thought I saw a post where Peter said that if you are retubing a Vh4 and replacing the power amp tubes with the same brand and model power amp tubes that you do not have to rebias the amp.
Peter, or anyone who knows, is this the case? (I have stock tad el34b selected) (ruby preamp)
are there better tubes out there? no problems with these, they lasted a while. I only ask because I have not seen many people mentioning this brand of tubes in diezels.
Also what is your opinion on Mesa el-34 str nos 450 tubes in the Diezel Vh4?
I only ask because I have some lying around, but I have heard different things about the Mesa tubes in Diezles
I hate to take 3 weeks to get my amp biased @ the local shop so I will probably learn how to bias the amp myself if needed. any suggestions or tips on the process?
Thanks so much for your input

In order to do that they have to be rated some sort of way like fender has red, white, and blue tube ranges, Groove Tubes has 1-10, and Mesa has their color coding.

The numbers on the tubes has nothing to do
with the bias.
It´s a measurement done by the distributor
with a fixed plate and grid voltage.

If You use the same tube and number,
You don´t have to rebias.

here is the post/ response from peter, I realize I am not showing the entire previous post, but it seems like this is what i am asking. I dunno

Yeah thats it, it has to be a rating like on Groove Tubes 1-10. Once you get it set up for say like a GT number 5, just keep getting number 5's and your good or mesa yellows and so on, although it would be wise to have it checked anyway every few tube changes to see if the bias settings have drifted.
