What preamp and EL34's are you guys liking in your VH4's and/or which sound best to you? I have Chinese pre's and Winged C EL34's. I think I don't really dig the Winged C tube. They are a little lifeless/boring to me. I had them in a JVM and I felt the same way. Sooooo give me some recommendations.

First it was the chinese el34b-strs, then the Winged C SEDs, then the JJ e34ls and now the kt77.

Why does the preferred tube keep changing? It's hard to keep up.

It can change because tube quality can change and new tubes come out and technology etc. changes. IMO, the KT77 is the way to go. If we never progress we never change (or improve)

They're currently over stocked on the JJKT77s and need to move them out fast, that's why.

If you don't want much of a departure from the R-EL34B-STR then get JJKT77s at a discount. Just go with the JJE34Ls and let your ears do the talking. They are where it's at for Diezel. EOS!

This has absolutely NOTHING to do with it...

JJ told me so, and he also said to tell you that he's Dynomite! :)

Thanks for the replies. I think I'll try some KT77's. Hopefully they are the bee's knee's for the metulz.

Can I mix tubes in the VH4? For example 6L6 and EL34? I want to experiment a little bit (just for fun/interrests). My amp already sound killer with it`s EL34  But I´m curious how the tone will change :D

Unfortunately not. There is only one bias pot for all 4 tubes in the VH4.

I'm pretty sure that all three Diezel accept EL34, 6L6, KT77, KT88, KT66, 6550 and maybe even some more types.

Hmmm and when I´m now biasing my amp, I`ll bias the first pair and then the second pair with the same poti??? Does it not it change the setting for the first pair when I turn the pot for the second pair? :scared:    :D

as far as i know, you dont bias pairwise on the VH4, but the whole quartet! (VH4-S instead pairwise maybe?)

You just meassure pairwise but the bias pot is for all four tubes. I'm sorry but mixing tubes isn't possible with the VH4
