I recently acquired a like new 90’s Marshall 4x12 B cab with the stock 75’s and I’m running it under my VH4 and I gotta say …..
All around the cab sounds pretty darn good. Seems the 75’s get talked down quite a bit but to my ears they cover a lot of ground.
I’ve played other cabs with my amp, the usual suspects Diezel, Mesa and of course whatever side you favor both are excellent.
I just couldn’t pass on the Marshall cab. A lot of people throw around the phrase “like new” but this cab is truly a time capsule.
Anyway, anyone else running a similar rig ?

First time I played a VH4 was through pretty much the same cab, sounded incredible in the room. Although, I never liked the G12T-75s recording-wise with the VH4, preferred a V30/Greenback combo in the same cab.

I have that speaker mix in an Emperor cab. You’re right that does sound good as well.
I’ve played a lot of gear through similar Marshall cabs from modelers to many an amp. Mesa, Matchless, Two Rock
and of course Diezel and what I keep saying to myself is everything sounds good, clean through gain.

my experience with is with the Herbert Mk3 and a 1960AV is not good. The Marshall cab is ok in most of the situations but for Metal does not even get close to the modern metal sound type which is what you would expect from Diezel, Mesa or Bogner. With the Marshall "V30" it just sounds over the top with the mid-highs and does not get compressed enough to sound good with the Head. I was almost getting shocked how bad could the Herbert sound.

A few months ago, I ended up getting a Diezel 4x12 cab with G12K-100 and the Herbert sounds completely different. It's one of the most good and brutal sound combination i ever heard, even with different boosts you feel the difference with the cab. It's night and day.

As a result i'm selling my 1960AV.

Those basically sound like the K100 at 75 Watts.
Many like the K100 better than v30s. I do not...

I ran my VH4 thru a Marshall 1960A with G12-T75 speakers for 2 years, and I thought it sounded great!
It's a good combination. My Engl Invader2 sounds excellent thru the 1960A too.
