I'm sure this has been posted somewhere already, but can't find it anywhere for the life of me...

So here goes - is it possible to run two different sets of tubes in the VH4s, eg EL34's on the left channel and 6550's on the right? Been a while since I biased the amp, but I thought there was only one pot for both channels - that would make biasing a 'challege' to say the least

Highly doubtful. The 4 sockets will be set via the 6L6/EL34 switch - so in the case of using 6550's for half, and EL34's for the other half, there'll be a huge discrepancy in the voltages offered to one of the pairs when the other pair is biased correctly - it'll be too hot, too cold, or simply not right. That's a very big difference - two entirely different tubesets in one row for the VH4S - I think it's a recipe for disaster...blown tubes, or potentially damage to the amp.

Having done a couple weeks worth of work on both VH4's and VH4S's, I've come to the realization that the KISS rule prevails - Keep It Simple Stupid.

 If there's EVER been a "WTF" moment on this forum, I think I've just witnessed it... :dunno:

If feminine hygiene products and flax based nutrient supplements start seeping their way into our everyday discussions, I will have to wonder if the low grade acid is in my coffee, or the moderators...

Yep, in the Diezel family i think only in herbert and einstein you can mix the power tubes.
