please don't hate me for this question.
Can you connect a VH4S to 1-2x12 Diezel cabinet?

The VH4S is a stereo amp. I would always run a cabinet on each side no matter the cabinet size.

I use my VH4S with a single Diezel 2x12 that is wired for stereo (I think all the 2x12 Diezel cabs are).
It sounds awesome in the studio with stereo delay or chorus in the effects loop.
On stage your audience probably won't hear any stereo unless you use 2 cabs.

If the Ohms are correct in matching I would say yeah and just turn one sides volume all the way to zero. I use my VH4S for gigging with one 4x12 Diezel cab and just turn side A to zero (Per Peter's recommendation that it just turns the channel off, so you are not gonna fry the other side by not having a speaker connected to that side of the amp) JMO

So - are you telling me that you're using a VH4S for gigging, but plugging only 1/2 of it into a cabinet and using the volume to apparently cut the remaining channel? This sounds highly suspect. I take it you're not using or do not have a stereo cab...

RockRidge - I dig your idea... I've got a similar set up only with a 4x12 stereo cab and I wanted to make sure I could use the VH4S with both its channels into both "Sides" of the same, stereo wired cab. Using your 2x12, tell me how it sounded? Are you cranking it up? Any weird phasing happening? How about volume and SPL - are we able to go toe-to-toe with a VH4 into 4x12 or are we at half the jam?

I guess that's a question for anyone out there - what is the performance of a VH4S into a 4x12 stereo cabinet like (performance meaning volume, power, SPL, etc.) compared to a VH4 into a mono 4x12 cabinet all else being equal? It's theoretical question really... My guess is the VH4S running a stereo cabinet is less potent than a VH4 running a mono cabinet. Seems as thought (50+50) x (4x12) wouldn't have the same grunt as 100 x (4x12). Perhaps this is a question for the powers-that-be... What's got more jam? A VH4S or a VH4?

Weird...I could think about Diezel stuff all day long and still never get enough...

Perhaps Peter Diezel could chime in, but I also would be worried about not having
having a speaker load on one side of the VH4S for an extended period
with the volume down. I've done it for short periods with the volume off
but it would be too easy to make a mistake at a gig
and blow up your OT or power tube fuses.

As far as how the 2x12 sounds in stereo mode with the VH4S, it sounds great. No phasing issues
that I can hear, plenty of punch, just as loud to my ears as a mono 2x12, but I'll let the experts
comment on the actual power calculation.
If you do happen to have something wired out of phase, you'll know immediately
your 12" drivers will sound like 6" drivers.
I have also used a variety of other stereo amps (VHT 2502, Mesa 20/20)
with Diezel and other stereo cabs through the years and always had great tone and no phase issues.
The only issue is that you and especially your audience won't hear as much stereo effect compared to 2 separate cabs

As I have said before numerous times, why have a stereo amp and use it mono? Plug the VH4S into 2 cabs and use it as it was intended. Running it without a load on each side is not what I would be doing.....my $.02.

I use my VH4-s with one 4x12 Diezel cab (v30's) Both channels have slightly different EQ and i use two mics (left and right on the cab) for recording...............awesome sound!!!!!!!

do not ever run this amp without a speaker or loadbox........i believe the manual says!!!!!

Couldn't agree more... I love my VH4S into a stereo wired cab and close-miked for recording. Minimal leakage with the Shure SM57s and the FX such as DD, flange, chorus, etc are to die for.

Perfect set up - as awesome as the VH4 but just a little better in the "options" department.

I could NOT be happier...
