Would like to get more info from 'papa' if possible. I would like to know what tubes shipped with the amp in the era of 2004-2005. That's when I think Barry switched from his Tri-Amp's to the VH4. That was around the time I was on tour with DP and saw 3DG vh4's.

New album out oct 2nd. VH4 used in the studio verified by studio pics. There is also a 3 ch dual rect adam uses but his guitars are normal mixed pretty low. I believe barry blends a jmp1 preamp some where? Dunno just saw it in his rack. Maybe just a backup or di feed for monitors or FOH. Need for his Tech to Chime in.

The single is being reviewed at a 5 out of 5 by the people that review music.

If I had to guess I would say he using 6550 style bottles.

idea: ask berry via facebook or website himself?

well that is a good idea, I just wanted to show off some Diezel pics too. :)

that's always a good idea! ;)

Hope I didn't give the impression I was trying to Plug the band. I do like their music but like most of us on rig talk, the gear are just creative tools, just like colors to an artist. I hoped someone in the Diezel camp would have some more information for me.

Dear LukeCurd,

sorry, I don´t know a lot about this band but they seem to kick a..

Best,
Peter

Peter,

Thanks for the reply, I asked Barry Stock for an interview and he is playing a show soon near my home. Hopefully I can get the low down direct from the man himself.

We put Ruby EL34BSTR's in em biased to -30ma and Sovtek 12ax7WA's. Much thicker sounding pre's than what ships with em.

 I was wondering how he took of a little bit of the bite off the diezel and still kept the aggression. Thanks so much.

the pre's are the secret plus a solid right hand technique. Also, the BSTR's are a bit more powerful.

If I may, you're using the Sovtek in all preamp positions, or just some key ones? If so, which ones, and what is employed in the PI and other slots?

Thanks.

I fully agree with the solid right hand technique but nothing else.

Cheers,
Peter

WB's across everything.

We tried several different things and the WB's and BSTR's are what the player liked best. It just worked for HIM and he really loves what we're getting out the amp. Currently redoing his rig and one of his requests was not to change anything about the VH4. Like I said, it works for HIM.

What pre's are you preferring in the VH4 these days and why?
Thanks for your reply.

Thanks for taking the time to post info Peter, but for some reason I'm not seeing the pdf. I'll reload page and see what happens.

There HAS to be a better option than the Sovtek WA/B/C's Those things sound like wet cardboard. :scared:

Here is the rig diagram Lonnie helped me with. Its a W/D/W Rig with all the pedals going to the Diezel and the JMP-1 and Eventide is his stereo mix.

4x Sennheiser wireless, multi selector, rjm switcher, fuzz factory, octtava magus fuzz, small stone phaser, out to a custom patch box I made on his pedal board, boss tu-2 tuner, ernie ball stereo pan volume pedal, dunlop wah, axess electronics bs-2 buffer, back to rjm switcher, expandora, boss super octave, pog, ts-9, dunlop vibe, H & K roto (with switch I built on board for speed), over to head rack > axess Bs-2 buffer split to Diezel VH4, spare VH4, modded Marshall jmp-1 (with custom phase reverse box I build to be able to program a phase reverse because some Diezel channels are out of phse with the Marshall), eventide eclipse, engl power amp feeding two Krych 6x12's turned on their side. The 6x12's are actually a 4x12 and a 2x12 in one cab. The center two 4x12 portions are the diezel for center direct and the outside 2x12 portions are for the wet Marshall left right. We are thinking of adding a very old Ibanez DM1100 delay in the diezel loop just for hold capture noises for fun.
