Just bought mine today, used, for 1800 with footswitch and Eq, and cover....amazing sound, simply amazing, just wondering if anyone had some opinions on settings, or any advice..Thanks guys, i would recommend to any serious guitar player.

Definatly make sure you run the master volume abour 2 oclock.
Then roll up your channel volumes to suit .
I keep the clean volume about 1 or 2 oclock.

One thing about the UL is that it(to my ears AND others will back me up on this) it just doesnt bond well with Vintage 30's. They sound shrilly/lack punch, kinda ice picky but useable.

I was all over the different tone settings trying to make it work..UNTIL,
I scored a VHT FatBottom 2x12 cab. I knew then, what others have told me, VHT cabs match up to a tee with the Ultralead. 3 days ago,I sold my Bogner 4x12 and bought a new VHT 4x12 Fatbottom. Thunder from above is all I can say with both cabs running. Also, the amp now cleans up better with rolling off the guitars volume then it did with the Bogner cab.

By no means am I ragging V30's or the Bogner cabs.Every other amp recently I have owned(XTC,SLO,Decatone, Budda SD80II) sounded stellar thru the Bogner.
SargThump and Bob Savage will both attest to VHT AMPS/VHT CABS.
There is a VHT forum too by the way.

Have fun with your new head !

How did you like that Decatone? I have one right now and I'm curious to hear your opinion on it. I find the cleans to be so sweet, and the crunch channel is the best guitar sound I've ever plugged into. The overdrive channel is a disappointment to me. Too compressed. All the "chunk" gets muffled on the low strings. the crunch channel makes up for all that, though. If the amp ended there, I'd still be happy with it. Lately, I've been running my MXR 10 band eq in the loop- it brings it out quite nicely.

You've owned some of the heavy hitters. Why did you part with the Deca?

The cleans and the crunch channel are better than Soldanos flagship SLO for sure. Yes the lead channel lacked "soul"..in fact,I just couldnt bond with the Deca. I tried and tried different settings, etc, but at the end of the day,the amp lacked punch until you ran the Master at 10 . Bill Sundt(check spelling on last name) will tell you, with the Decatone being a true 3 channel amp, that all master volumes set at 8,the amp only puts out 20 watts & she wont open up till the mater is run almost wide open.
I'm glad your digging it,and just because I didnt jell with it,doesnt mean hundereds of others havent. I have a buddy in Michigan,he owns 3 of them,3 Lucky 13 combos a few upper end Soldano power amps, and a couple SLO's....plus I think he's got 4 Soldano 4x12 cabs. Talk about helping Mikey S's hot rod addiction...geeeshh !
